Hi Jamesha , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

Born and raised in Little River, South Carolina, Jamesha Gore-Coggin has always been driven to excel academically and professionally. In July 2006, she was among the first 100 students selected to enroll in South Carolina’s Early College High School program, which allows students to complete high school and college coursework simultaneously. Jamesha successfully completed the program in four years, graduating in 2010 with dual high school diplomas—from North Myrtle Beach High School and Early College High School—as well as an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Horry Georgetown Technical College.
Jamesha continued her education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance with a minor in Marketing and Business from the Darla Moore School of Business in 2013. She graduated debt-free thanks to the Early College High School.
After graduation, Jamesha began her career with State Farm, joining the Aspiring Agent program under the mentorship of the late Agent Bobby Kelly of Myrtle Beach. After five years of dedicated work, she was selected in June 2018 to open her own agency. On December 1, 2018, at just 25 years old, Jamesha became the youngest African American female State Farm agent in Horry County, South Carolina, to open her own agency.
Since then, Jamesha has grown a highly successful agency in North Myrtle Beach, ranked among the Top 100 new State Farm agents nationwide. Her agency is recognized as a premier provider of small business insurance and has been named Best Insurance Agent since 2018 by Reader’s Choice. Jamesha is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She serves on the McLeod Health Foundation Board, McLeod Health HOPE Committee, North Myrtle Beach Chamber Foundation Board, the Myrtle Beach Area Regional Commerce Board, the University of South Carolina Young Alumni Board, co-founder of the non-profit Together We Give Foundation, and participates in several local networking groups.
In 2023, Jamesha expanded her impact by opening a second State Farm location in Loris, South Carolina. Alongside her thriving business, she embraces the joys motherhood with her 3 year old daughter Hendrix and enjoys life with her husband, Kelly.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part it has been a smooth and enjoying journey. Like anything in life success at such a young age and a first time entrepreneur comes with its challenges. I opened my second office at the time of becoming a new mother and that took some getting used to a new routine and important and shift in priorities in my life. I would not trade it for the world.
We’ve been impressed with State Farm Insurance, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Head State Farm Insurance agent and agency owner of 2 locations. We are known for home, auto. life, health, and commercial insurance. We are big on building long lasting relationships and helping our customer through all the many life changes and milestones in life by managing everyday risk. I am so proud to represent a reputable company that has been around for 100+ years and built on financial stability. Our office is heavily involved in the community and constantly giving back and helping support resources in the community that help make me so success.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I am born and raised from the area and grow up in a small rural town. I would say I have always been ambitious to lead in some capacity. I am a very outgoing person and wear the heart of other on my shelve. I was raised by a family of strong business minded individuals that touch me alot of what I know today about culture and respect for small business owners.
