Community Highlights: Meet Jack Hanus of Bricks & Minifigs Greenville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jack Hanus.

Hi Jack, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been building with LEGO since I was 7 years old. I grew up in Arizona, but in 2022, I moved to South Carolina to help start this store, Bricks & Minifigs Greenville, and I had worked as a manager there since it opened. As of September 1st, 2025, my dad and I purchased the store.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The loan process and setting up the legal entities proved more challenging than anticipated. From our initial decision to the final transfer, the timeline stretched far longer than expected. But we persevered and saw it through; and we’re glad we did!

As you know, we’re big fans of Bricks & Minifigs Greenville. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Bricks & Minifigs Greenville is the premier store for all sorts of LEGO® products, dedicated to serving collectors, builders, families, and people of all ages. We specialize in retired LEGO® sets, pre-owned collections, bulk bricks, and individual minifigures—offering a wider variety of inventory than traditional toy stores.

What makes us unique is our buy-sell-trade business model, which allows customers to trade in their old LEGO® products for either cash or in-store credit. And, as a community gathering spot, we’re a fun place for hosting birthday parties, club meetings, and after-hours social events for adult enthusiasts.

Our main goal is to exceed customer expectations with every visit by offering exceptional products, knowledgeable staff who genuinely love the LEGO® brand, and a clean, welcoming environment where everyone feels at home. We want people to enjoy their time here—whether they’re browsing our vast collection of minifigures and sets, rediscovering retired sets from their childhood, or just hanging out and sharing building techniques. We’re proud to be part of the vibrant LEGO® community, providing a trusted, friendly space where people can buy, sell, trade, and celebrate creativity.

How do you define success?
For this store, our goal is to create a fun and happy environment for people of all ages to enjoy building with LEGO®. Not only for our customers, but for us and our staff too. We don’t want to be just a store, we’re striving to be the go-to LEGO® hang out spot, a place where LEGO® fans can come together to chat, chill, and build. Achieving this would be our definition of success.
