Hi Dr. Brandon M., thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dr. Brandon M. Glover is an award-winning filmmaker, educator, and media entrepreneur born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. As the founder of Out Da Barnz Entertainment LLC, he has built a dynamic career producing compelling visual content that spans feature films, music videos, live events, and corporate media.
His debut feature film, Son of a Preacher Man (2022), achieved global distribution on platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and Tubi, earning multiple accolades, including a Telly Award. His work has also gained international recognition, most notably with the International Excellence Award for Filmmaking, Education & Entrepreneurship presented in Milan, Italy by the World Class Film Awards.
Dr. Glover holds a Ph.D. in Business Management from Northcentral University, along with degrees in media and entertainment business from the University of South Carolina, Midlands Technical College, and Full Sail University. In addition to his creative work, he serves as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina, where he mentors aspiring filmmakers and media professionals.
A dedicated leader in both faith and community, Dr. Glover also serves as Media Content Director at Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, overseeing a large volunteer production team. He is currently in pre-production for his 3rd feature film, Jasmine Rose a.k.a. J.R., while his 2nd feature film, “Choices,” is in post-production. Dr. Glover continues to expand his impact through storytelling that uplifts, educates, and inspires.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not always been a smooth road. I grew up in a single-parent household where we sometimes faced financial hardship, food insecurity, and periods when basic utilities were unavailable. My mother loved and cared for us deeply, but her struggle with addiction also affected our family. I never knew my father—not even his name—so there were emotional questions and challenges that I had to learn to navigate as I grew older.
As a young man, I also made choices that could have taken my life in a very different direction. For a period, I became involved in the streets and pursued ways of making money that did not align with the person I ultimately wanted to become. Eventually, I reached a point where I knew I had to make a complete change. Through faith, personal accountability, and a desire to build a meaningful future, I chose education and purpose over survival and temporary gain.
Returning to school as an adult presented its own challenges. I had to balance education with work, family responsibilities, and the uncertainty of pursuing a career in the creative industry. I began at Midlands Technical College, continued at the University of South Carolina, earned a master’s degree from Full Sail University, and ultimately completed my Ph.D. at Northcentral University. That journey required years of sacrifice, discipline, and perseverance.
Building Out Da Barnz Entertainment has also been filled with obstacles. Independent filmmaking often means working with limited budgets, wearing multiple hats, solving unexpected problems, and continuing forward when resources do not match the size of the vision. I have experienced postponed projects, production challenges, closed doors, and moments when I had to pivot from one plan to another. However, each setback taught me how to become a stronger filmmaker, educator, entrepreneur, and leader.
My road has not been easy, but I would not remove the difficult chapters because they helped shape my character. The struggles taught me resilience, resourcefulness, empathy, and gratitude. They also gave me a deeper understanding of the people and stories I now represent through my work. My life is proof that where you begin does not have to determine where you finish. With faith, perseverance, education, and the courage to change direction, hardship can become preparation for purpose.

Out Da Barnz Entertainment, LLC is a South Carolina-based film and media production company I founded in 2010. The name is deeply personal. As a child, I spent time playing in the barns on my great-grandmother Effie Spigner’s farm in St. Matthews, South Carolina. Those barns became a place where my imagination could run freely. “Out Da Barnz” represents taking creativity from humble beginnings and carrying it into the world.
We specialize in narrative films, commercials, promotional videos, documentaries, music videos, live-event coverage, and other forms of visual media. Our work covers the complete production process, including concept development, scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, audio, editing, and post-production. We work with businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations, artists, educational institutions, and individuals who want to communicate their stories with excellence and authenticity.
What sets us apart is that we do more than produce visually appealing content—we look for the meaning behind every story. My background in filmmaking, education, business, and ethical leadership allows me to approach each project from both a creative and strategic perspective. I want the finished product to look professional, but I also want it to connect emotionally, communicate clearly, and serve a genuine purpose.
Education and mentorship are also important parts of our identity. Whenever possible, I create opportunities for students and emerging filmmakers to gain hands-on production experience. I believe people learn best when they are trusted with meaningful responsibilities, guided through the process, and allowed to contribute to real projects. That commitment can be seen in our current feature film, Perfect Vision, where interns have participated in post-production by editing individual scenes while learning the craft in a professional environment.
Brand-wise, I am most proud that Out Da Barnz Entertainment has remained connected to its roots while growing beyond them. Our work has reached national television, major streaming platforms, film festivals, businesses, churches, and communities. Projects associated with our company have received both national and international recognition, but our greatest accomplishment is using media to give people, organizations, and important issues a voice.
Our stories often explore faith, family, redemption, personal responsibility, mental health, and the consequences of the choices we make. We are especially passionate about telling stories that are entertaining but also create opportunities for conversation, healing, education, and positive change.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The advice I would give to anyone just starting out is to understand that time is never free. Money can sometimes be replaced, opportunities may occasionally return, and mistakes can often be corrected—but once time is gone, you can never get it back.
When your talents and gifts are recognized, act on them. Do not allow fear, self-doubt, procrastination, or the need for perfect conditions to prevent you from moving forward. Prepare yourself, remain teachable, and take the opportunity seriously when it comes. If you continually postpone pursuing what you have been called and equipped to do, there may come a day when the opportunity is no longer available.
I wish I had understood earlier how quickly time passes. Tomorrow is never promised, so use today wisely. Start with what you have, learn as you go, and trust that consistent action will take you further than waiting for the perfect moment. Honor your gifts by developing them, sharing them, and using them to make a difference while you have the opportunity.
