Community Highlights: Meet Caroline Walter of Caroline Walter Events & Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Walter

Hi Caroline, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have had a passion for events for as long as I can remember. I have always been inspired by Martha Stewart and the art of creating beauty in every aspect of life. I learned early on from my mother the secrets of hosting memorable gatherings, and she really instilled in me a love for elegant entertaining. After my time at the University of Georgia for undergrad, I moved back home to Charleston, SC and began working for a prominent Hospitality Group as their venue and events manager. It was there that I learned what top of the line catering and beverage service looks like. Producing over 100 events in one year, I learned how to work with all types of people and lead a team to provide excellent service. After my time as an events manager I worked for two years as a studio manager and interior designer at a popular interior design firm. My time in the design industry shaped me into a curated and thoughtful event designer. After recently planning every detail of my own wedding, I have re-fell in love with all things design and beautifully thoughtful events. With this foundation, I am dedicated to turning visions into reality, one beautiful event at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing good ever comes easy. With my previous roles I endured many challenges. Events are not always glamorous, and there are many aspects that go into creating a successful and beautiful event that people do not understand. The biggest challenge I faced was burn out. Right out of college I was trying to navigate the work world, manage my personal relationships and just balance life. I could not get it right and it led to me having to leave my role at the time. Since then I still sometimes struggle with a work/life balance. I have to tell myself, especially now that I have started my own business to put the laptop away. I continue to remind myself that I can’t do everything in one day and to find healthy stopping points.

We’ve been impressed with Caroline Walter Events & Design, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

What sets me apart is my personal approach to working with clients and planning their events. I focus on building genuine relationships that go beyond just the logistics of the event itself. My goal is to create lasting connections and foster trust with each client, which I believe ultimately makes the event smoother and the planning experience much more enjoyable.

Brand wise I am most proud of how far we have come in just a few months of business and what we have created thus far ( website, social media and a organized planning platform) There is endless more room to grow, but I feel proud of the brand identity we have already made.

I want readers to know that no matter the size of your event, we’re here to help. Whether it’s an intimate dinner party or a 200-person wedding, I’m dedicated to making the planning process seamless and enjoyable every step of the way.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
In regard to helping do my best professional the planning platform, Aisle Planner has helped me level up my business and organized my different clients events. It is a shared platform between me and the client where every detail throughout the whole wedding process can be stored, shared and reviewed.

I love listening to podcasts from other event professionals or entrepreneurs that I am inspired by. Most recently I listened to the Skinny Confidential podcast with planning expert Marcy Blum. Marcy plans events for celebrity clients and what she has accomplished and the creativity she has when it comes to thinking outside the box for events is unmatched.

Another podcast episode I recently listened to and loved was from The Founders Society and they brought on Haley Kelly, a top wedding planner in Charleston, SC and beyond. I admire Haley Kelly and have met and worked with her and am blown away by her work, and just who she is as a person and business owner. I loved learning about her ideal client and how she got to where she is now. Her approach to weddings and events is so fun and unique and she creates magic. She is absolutely someone I look up to in the industry!
