Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Harris
Hi Aaron, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Hometown brand began in 2020 through boredom during the COVID-19 pandemic. The 803 logo was born through ideas for simplicity, love for our Palmetto State and being able to display it in a creative way. The first 803 sale occurred in September 2021. Early orders were hand delivered.
Even though they had just begun, a couple months later, Hometown 803 fed truck drivers Christmas Eve dinner at Loves truck stop in Lexington as a display of thanks for supporting our nations supply chain. Community was and continues to be a core element of their mission with more than 25 school partnerships, where they’ve donated over $3000 back school programs such as Special Education, Bio-Diesel Science, and Athletics. Most recently Hometown 803 donated over $5000 to the J Muller Training Foundation through hat and apparel sales remembering the late Irmo firefighter James Muller. Since 2021 they have donated over $10,000 back to our SC communities.
Through sales in different channels; website, farmers markets, festivals, fairs, and schools Homtown 803 has sold over 40,000 hats and apparel pieces and shipped product to more than 39 states and 6 countries. Still today all orders are processed by the husband and wife team family Its easy to see their hard work everywhere in our communities of South Carolina. In 2025 Hometown Colors Inc will spread its wings further and slowly expand their brand to the rest of the country.
You can find Hometown 803 online at hometown803.com. Currently they have a store location on Main Street in Lexington but will be moving to a larger space in Batesburg-Leesville in Jan 2025. The additional space and lower rent will assist in their expansion.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing a brand quickly over just a couple years has required working 7 days a week. Monday-Friday at the store, taking their pop up store to a football game in Clover on Friday night and not getting back until 1am and then getting up for Soda City at 6:00am is. And the Sunday filling weekend orders! It’s defenitly been a grind and at times CRAZY
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Proud of how fast we’ve created the Hometown brand and the way we’ve done it with quality being #1 and in support of our communities from the beginning.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Playing in the forest and creek and walking to the country general store for candy
