Check Out Yvette Twum-Danso’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvette Twum-Danso.

Hi Yvette, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my entrepreneurship journey after I was a trauma patient. I was 15 weeks pregnant and hit by an 18-wheeler truck. The retained attorney was kind, compassionate, and genuinely concerned for our well-being. After being discharged from the hospital, the case manager visited me at my home. We began considering how my nursing practice could support attorneys. After completing my PhD, I founded T-D Legal Nurse Consulting. I consult with attorneys specializing in medical malpractice, personal injury, torts, elder law, and family law. I partnered with SCORE locally for mentorship, and ever since, my businesses have been successful. My second business, Global DNA Conceiger Testing, launched in August 2025, catering to males seeking the truth about their paternity status. Unfortunately, males have a negative stereotype when it comes to paternity tests. I identified gaps in men’s health and created solutions for men to have their paternity test done privately and confidentially.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been challenging. After completing nursing school, I failed my nursing licensure exams multiple times. However, I persisted and was determined to succeed. I finally succeeded, and I have been a nurse for 29 years. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart; it takes persistence and determination. The challenges included navigating the business structure, such as bookkeeping, forming an LLC, and securing a tax accountant for business taxes. That’s when SCORE played a crucial role in my business journey. Thankfully, I am still connected with my SCORE mentor, Mel Flaming. I overcame the struggles by reading books and taking classes on how to build a successful business model. Then I took action every day and kept my faith in God.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a nurse consultant for attorneys practicing in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, mass torts, family law, and elder law. I am known for my expertise in cardiac and falls cases. I focus on legal cases that have merit. I am proud to leverage my 29 years of nursing skills and leadership experience, gained from serving in the United States Army Reserves. Additionally, I am creating a legacy for my family. What sets me apart from others is my ability to listen, focus on details, and utilize effective writing and communication skills.

What’s next?
My plan for the future is to hire support teams, such as virtual assistants and technicians, to expand my business from a solo modality to a team-based one. The significant change is that I’m taking my family on an international vacation to Italy in the very near future. I am excited to develop scholarships for college students majoring in a healthcare discipline, such as nursing, or in a related field, such as physical therapy. My future is bright, and I am grateful beyond measure.
