Check Out Tavish Traynum’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tavish Traynum

Hi Tavish, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a 13 year old, I witnessed my mom struggle to raise three kids on her own. I watched her cry in the dark at night to keep us from seeing her pain. I thought if I could do something to help I would. So I learned how to cook the family meals. At the age of 15 I got my first job at Clemson university as a chef. By the age of 18 I was plotting my career in culinary and how to obtain my own restaurant. After 11 years of working in the kitchen, in 2018 during covid, I took on clients in home for private dinners to give couples and families the feel of being in a restaurant again. The success of those tough times led me to starting my catering company. Jets Catering And Wing’s is a vision that came to me at 3am in the middle of the night as I slept. JETs stands for my kids first names (Ja’Karius Essence and Trinity) and it is the stepping stone into a bigger plan of starting a huge non profit that helps men better their lives. It includes things such as cooking classes, learning how to wear suits and tie ties, fatherhood classes, financial courses and more.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely been a bumpy road. With the rise in grocery prices and insurance, and, well everything, I’ve had to juggle between working a full time job as well as keeping my business afloat. A lot of the times I break even but my goal is be affordable and provide quality service for everybody as long as possible.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a caterer and private chef, my goal is to be the fresh air in some of the most stressful yet beautiful moments in people’s lives. What am I proud of? After over 20 years in the kitchen, i am still doing what I love and spreading joy in the lives of my clients. With my culinary background, my company offers a full range of catering options from 5 star fine dining to hand held bites. What’s special about my catering company? I take the windows of opportunity and business to promote other local small business owners around me. We only use other small business vendors to execute all caterings. From bartenders to bakers even down to our event decorators. We also welcome other chefs who want to pursue their own career or wants to start their own company.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
As always you can reach out on all social media or our website www.jetscateringandwings.com. I love to collaborate with other vendors all over the world. I’d love for those who want to support us to share our page or website, or book us, or invest in my dream of owning a venue and giving Jets Catering the home that it deserves!
