Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxana Massie.
Hi Roxana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A lot has changed since my last feature. What has this season looked like for you?
So much has changed.
The last time I shared my story with you guys few years ago, I was in the middle of building businesses with my mobile jewelry and clothing store, also working in my events popups markets Latina Bazaar Market, and the Spanglish Small Business Expo creating opportunities, and trying to establish myself through pure determination. Since then, life tested me in ways I never imagined.
I experienced major losses. I closed businesses I once believed would be long-term brands. I lost financially. I went through bankruptcy. I was in a serious car accident. There were moments where I felt like everything I worked for had collapsed all at once.
But what looked like the end… was actually the beginning.
God used every setback to rebuild me stronger.
There were nights of tears, confusion, fear, and asking “Why me?” But through all of it, God kept whispering: Keep going. I’m not finished with you yet.
And I listened.
What did those difficult moments teach me?
That success built only on money can disappear.
But success built on faith, character, resilience, and vision cannot be destroyed.
I learned that titles can disappear. Businesses can close. Cars can crash. Bank accounts can fall. But if God keeps you still here His purpose remains.
I also learned that many people celebrate you when you’re rising—but few understand you when you’re rebuilding.
This season taught me more humility, wisdom, discipline, and discernment. It taught me how to start over without shame.
Most importantly, it taught me that God is truly a provider.
When I had no answers, He made a way.
When I had no strength, He became my strength. When I wanted to quit, He carried me even to this very day.
After my accident which stopped me from getting back and I’m still recovering from financially and physically speaking.
— while many people thought I disappeared, I was actually repositioning.
Over the last year I created and rebuilt multiple digital platforms —to bring a bridge connector for brands and communities come together and break the language barrier between them.
One of the most exciting movements has been the growth of Spanglish Small Business networking groups.
This vision is bigger than an event.
It’s about becoming the bridge between cultures, languages, entrepreneurs, and opportunities.
I saw a gap in the market: many Hispanic business owners need access, visibility, education, and connections. Many English-speaking businesses need help understanding and reaching multicultural markets.
So I created a connector movement.
That is where I’m heading now: building ecosystems, partnerships, media opportunities, business education, marketing access, and long-term community impact.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. The road has been anything but smooth. Instead it has been one of the most difficult times in my lifetime.
From the outside, people often see confidence, movement, and success, but they don’t always see the battles behind the scenes.
My journey has included closing businesses I worked so hard to build, losing financial stability, facing bankruptcy, and still rebuilding from the ground up.
I also went through a serious car accident that forced me to slow down physically and emotionally during a season when I already felt like life was testing me from every angle. After a surgery things went wrong too which to this that is still giving mayor set backs by that accident.
There were moments of disappointment, embarrassment, fear, and uncertainty.
Starting over is never easy—especially when you know what it took to build something the first time. I had to deal with the emotional weight of loss while still finding the strength to keep moving forward.
Another struggle was learning that not everyone will understand your rebuilding season.
Some people celebrate your wins, but few understand the quiet seasons where you are healing, regrouping, and trying again.
That taught me to stop seeking outside validation and trust the process God had for me.
But every challenge shaped me. Those struggles built resilience, wisdom, discipline, and faith.
They taught me that setbacks do not define you—they prepare you. Looking back now, I realize the hardest seasons were also the seasons that built the strongest version of me.
To bring God’s purpose not just for my life but to many others who needs to break through the many obstacles and struggles I already faced before in my startups.
I have started up no once, no twice, no three times but many times — if you recall on my first interview I shared I was a Plant Controller having a career of 20+ years which I decided to step down from starting as an entrepreneur last quarter in 2021 as Social Media Manager and context creator.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work today is centered around building brands, creating opportunities, and helping businesses grow through strategic visibility.
Today I specialize as bilingual marketing consultant through multicultural outreach, business development, media partnerships, event creation, and connecting people to the right audiences.
I’ve built my career around understanding that marketing is not just about advertising—it’s about trust, relationships, positioning, and knowing how to make a brand memorable.
Professionally, I work in Cumulus media Radio & Digital Group to promote our marketing services, helping businesses use the power of Radio + Digital integrated strategies to generate real results.
I guide entrepreneurs, small businesses, nonprofits, and growing brands on how to increase awareness, attract customers, and dominate their local markets through integrated campaigns.
That includes radio advertising, streaming audio, social media, targeted digital campaigns, SEM, Display ads, geofencing, OTT, DOOH, branding strategy, community sponsorships, and many other services with high-visibility promotional opportunities.
One of the areas I’m especially passionate about is helping businesses understand the Hispanic market and multicultural audiences. As a bilingual professional, I know how powerful it is when a business truly understands how to communicate across cultures.
That’s one of the reasons I created and continue to build the Spanglish Small Business networking groups building up what is to be launched and related networking initiatives.
It’s more than an event—it’s a platform designed to break language barriers, bring communities together, and create real economic opportunities for entrepreneurs who often feel overlooked.
I’m also known for being a connector. Many people know me as someone who can bring the right people into the same room, spark partnerships, and create momentum.
I love helping others see possibilities they may not have seen for themselves. Whether it’s connecting a small business owner to new marketing opportunities, creating a sponsorship idea, helping launch a brand, or building a room full of ambitious people ready to grow—I thrive in that space.
What I’m most proud of is not just the businesses or projects I’ve launched, but the resilience behind them.
I’ve gone through seasons of loss, setbacks, financial hardship, and rebuilding in one of the toughest places because my friends everyone knows Charleston is not an easy market despite is one of the best places to live right but competitors are not fair and will do anything to stop anyone who are coming in the market as their competitors.
Yet I refused to stay down. I’m proud that I kept going, kept evolving, and used every challenge to become stronger and wiser. I’m proud that I can now encourage others not just from theory, but from real experience.
What sets me apart from others is that I bring both strategy and heart with faith. I understand marketing systems, branding, and growth—but I also genuinely care about people.
I know how to sell, but I also know how to serve. I know how to build visibility, but I also know how to build trust. I can move in corporate spaces, community spaces, bilingual spaces, and entrepreneurial spaces with confidence and authenticity.
I’m not just building businesses—I’m building bridges connectors, movements, and legacy.
That combination of vision, resilience, cultural understanding, and execution is what truly sets me apart.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Absolutely. My biggest advice for anyone just starting out is this: don’t confuse movement with progress. In the beginning, many people chase everything, try to be everywhere, and say yes to every opportunity. I’ve learned that strategy matters more than being busy. Focus on building something real, sustainable, and aligned with your purpose instead of trying to impress people.
I also wish I knew earlier that failure is part of the journey, not the end of it. When you’re starting out, setbacks can feel personal. A business may fail, money may be lost, plans may change, and doors may close over and over specially when you need them to open up. That does not mean you are finished. Sometimes those hard seasons are teaching you the lessons success requires.
Another lesson I wish I knew is that branding and relationships matter just as much as the product. People do business with people they trust.
Learn how to communicate clearly, build credibility, treat people well, and protect your reputation.
Opportunities often come through relationships long before they come through advertising.
I would also tell beginners not to compare their chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty. Social media can make it look like everyone is winning overnight, but most real success is built quietly through consistency, sacrifice, hardships but along with discipline, and years of unseen work.
Financial wisdom is another big one. When you first start making money, don’t spend everything trying to look successful. Build reserves, reinvest wisely, stay organized, and understand your numbers. Many people know how to make money but not how to keep or grow it.
Most importantly, stay close to God and protect your mindset. There will be seasons where no one understands your vision, supports your effort, or sees your potential.
Keep going anyway. Faith, resilience, and perseverance will carry you further than talent alone.
If I could speak to my younger self, I’d say: Be patient. Build slower. Learn more. Trust God deeper. And understand that delays are not denials—they are preparation.
Your beginning does not need to be perfect. It just needs to begin
And if you have many losses understand the root causes behind them and ask God to lead the next steps with His wisdom and purposes.
