Check Out Pat Swayzee MFZ’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pat Swayzee MFZ.

Hi Pat Swayzee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Pat Swayzee MFZ. I’m from Sumter County, South Carolina. Started doing music at 17. Basketball was my first love. I started taking music seriously once I learned how to produce and make beats. Dropped my first official tape, “Castro’s Season”, in 2010. Since 2010, I’ve released 17 musical projects.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been an interesting road. To go from being unheard and unrecognized to being a staple in the rap community in your city and/or region was definitely a bumpy road throughout. I’ve struggled more with exposure and recognition than anything else.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an artist. I rap, produce, engineer, and create graphic designs. I was already known for other qualities where I’m from but the music was always overlooked. It wasn’t until I started producing music for other artists in the city that my name began coming up in different places. Producing music helped show my versatility and set myself apart from the other artists that could only rap. In the beginning, I started producing music and doing graphic design due to lack of resources and accessibility to other producers and graphic designers. The determination to learn different abilities to be a more polished artist is what I’m most proud of. It took time and effort but eventually I got the respect I deserved.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Never stop learning. I believe there’s always room for improvement. The music industry moves fast, so you have to study and stay ahead of the curve. What I learned from sports that I use in music is to remain coachable. There’s always someone to learn from and things to learn to add to your creative or business bag. Growth is endless when you allow yourself to be a sponge with information.
