Today we’d like to introduce you to Marci Millsap.
Hi Marci, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a retired veteran with 3 children, wife gym lover who enjoys all things outdoors. Hiking, walking and chasing waterfalls. Upon retirement I saw a since of a community needing to be built. Along with my father passing in 2023 I decided that I will heal myself through nature and that is how let’s hike South Carolina began. I hopped on Facebook under a bigger platform and solicited all South Carolina to join our Facebook group. It was a hit.. We hit the trails sometimes 2 to 3 times a month with Group hikes centered around family love and joy.. the highlight of this group is that is for all different walks of life and everyone is welcome
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As I’ve gotten older, I realize that I had a lot of childhood trauma that I had not healed from. Developing the Group instantly gave me accountability which I at one point lacked. This group ensures that I’ll show up every month and at least taken in nature, which is free. Last year we started a 12 Hike challenge that ensures that each person will get out at least once a month and enjoy the outdoors.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a serial entrepreneur with many talents with my current focus with Millsap Enterprise. I assist my husband with his trucking business as well as our family vending machine business. I am also currently homeschooling my youngest son. I will call myself the group organizer as I organize hikes throughout the South Carolina states, and also encourage others to do the same.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Kansas City, Kansas graduated from high school and left for the military in 2001. I traveled through throughout the country for over 20 years and decided to retire and Fort Jackson.
