Today we’d like to introduce you to Malcolm.
Hi Malcolm, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am an independent artist with sharp lyricism, introspective storytelling, and a genre-defying sound. I was born in 1995 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I’ve built a diverse catalog ranging from glitch-heavy experimental rap to smooth, laid-back vibes. My ability to weave intricate bars with melody and emotion is what sets me apart as a rising force in the music industry.
Originally known as Kosher the MC, I made my debut with Malfunction (2019), a raw, futuristic EP exploring self-identity and personal struggles through digital distortion. I followed up with Truth Be Told, which marked a transition to a more introspective and conscious sound, along with my official rebrand as Malcolm Nash.
In 2020, I released my first studio album, No Where to Go, a deeply personal project reflecting on isolation and perseverance during the pandemic.
Following this, I returned to my roots in 2022 and dropped my second studio album, 7 Days a Week—a high-energy display of sharp lyricism and infectious hooks that cemented my reputation as a relentless artist.
I have built my career from the ground up, proving that passion and authenticity can thrive outside the industry machine.
With each release, I push my boundaries, curating experiences that resonate beyond the music. My journey embodies perseverance, evolution, and artistic fearlessness—making me an artist to watch.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been an easy journey. Like many independent artists, I’ve encountered a lot of people who claimed they could help me get to where I wanted to be, but often it turned out to be less than what they promised. I’ve come to understand that the music industry is much more about business than just talent. One of my biggest challenges has been internal—struggling with perfectionism, worrying about how people perceive me, and questioning whether this path was really meant for me. But over time, through healing and self-reflection, I’ve grown. I’ve become more self-aware and better equipped to face those internal battles. I’m in a much better place now, and the music I’m making today honestly surpasses everything I’ve done in the past. It feels more true to me than ever before.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always had a passion for creating and making things my own. As a kid, my first form of expression was drawing—me and my friends would have drawing contests to see who could make the most accurate pictures. It was serious to us. I’ve also always been a huge gamer, and character customization is honestly one of the biggest things I look for in a game. I just love being able to create and express myself, especially since I didn’t have many chances to do that growing up.
Over time, music became my diary—my most honest way of expressing who I am. It allows me to tell my story in a way that’s real, while also connecting with people who might be going through similar things. Outside of music, I’ve designed clothes, shoes, logos—anything that lets me bring a vision to life. Creating has always just been in me.
I really take pride in doing everything “in house” when I can, so everything stays as personal and true to me as possible. I design all my own cover art for every album, EP, or single I put out. It’s important that whatever I release fully reflects who I am, down to the smallest detail.
I’m also really into fashion and always looking for new ways to evolve and innovate my style. I’ve done modeling for local photographers in my area, and I also dabble in videography from time to time. Whether it’s through sound, visuals, or style—I just love creating, period.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m always open to collaborations—genre doesn’t matter to me. I’ll always give it a shot. When it comes to support, the biggest thing is just following and interacting with me on social media. Ask questions, share my work with your friends—those simple things go a long way and don’t cost anything. At the end of the day, it’s not about the money for me. I just love being able to express myself, share my art with the world, and hopefully help others through that process. You can find me on most platforms at @malcolmnashh.
