Check Out John Strollo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Strollo.

Hi John, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My first job out of college, where I majored in a completely unrelated field, was as an assistant video editor at Discovery Channel. I then worked as a video editor and photographer at an NBC News affiliate in Knoxville, shooting news stories. Next, I worked at Jewelry Television as a production technician learning how to function on sets for television. Next, I worked in church media as a director, tasked with starting a media team from the ground up with limited resources. After realizing this would not happen, I finally joined a team of badasses called Lions Creative in Sevierville, TN. This was the first job I could use my experience to have full creative freedom, something most people at my old jobs craved and joked about reaching one day. After putting in my time there, I finally created an entity for my creativity called Thought Vibe LLC. I moved to Greenville, SC, to start this new entity and work at Ghost Brands here in Greenville. I worked on some great projects but ultimately decided to pursue my work through Thought Vibe. I am filming numerous weddings, starting out filming some music video projects, and freelancing on some cool projects, both filming, and editing. I want to expand my work and am entirely open to any collaboration. I look forward to getting to know Greenville and the surrounding states better as I continue this solo journey into the unknown.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle was leaving my last job to do what I did full-time. Although I have some contracted jobs to help, being paid through my company, Thought vibe, is what makes the difference.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Whenever I shoot, I get 10 years of post-production experience in a single person with his camera. This means I’m faster, more efficient, and can plan broader projects than the average videographer because I see the whole process in my head with just a single shot. I shoot darker, cinematic-style videos and use the DJI FPV drone to get the edge over most drone pilots.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I don’t remember much of when I was a child, but playing sports with my brother and dad has to be the best memory, combined with mom yelling that it’s time to eat.
