Check Out Halli Sloan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Halli Sloan.

Halli, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had a camera in hand for as long as I can remember… film, digital, Polaroid… if it could take a picture, I was obsessed with it, but it wasn’t until I got married that I felt the pull toward making photography my path. Then I became a mother, and everything came into focus . (quite literally) Having my boy shifted my whole perspective, the way motherhood often does. It made me want to freeze every moment, every feeling, every tiny season before it slipped away.

Since then, I’ve been incredibly blessed with opportunities to grow, learn, and create. I’ve had photographers pour into me, guide me, and invest in me more than they ever had to. Their kindness, those chances, and Gods grace have shaped every step of this journey.

With that, I’ve finally found where I fit and who Im meant to be behind the camera. This career has become more than a passion… it’s my purpose, my calling, and the place where my heart feels at home.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning…. absolutely not. Photography isn’t just something you master over night. It takes time, patience, and a whole lot of trail and error. With every shoot I learned something new… about my camera, about light, about people, and about myself.

Those early days were tough. I was trying to figure out my value, my style, and where I fit in the HUGE world of creatives.. Then came the comments… The ones that said Id never make it, that I wasn’t good enough, that I should give up before I really started.

Instead of that breaking me, they built me. I let those words spark something in me. They lit a fire that hasn’t gone out since. I used every doubt as fuel. Proof that I was going to push harder, grow stronger, and rise higher than anyone ever expected.

No, it wasn’t smooth but it has shaped me into the photographer I am today.
Determined. Passionate. Confident, and grateful for every step.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Cinematic Photographer, part storyteller, part memory keeper, part quiet observer of all the beautiful, unscripted moments people don’t even realize are happening .

I specialize in human stories, the real ones. The ones told in the way two people look at one another, or how a family laughs in the middle of the chaos, or how a bride exhales right before she walks to her future.

My style isn’t posed. Its lived in. Luminous. Cinematic in the way a movie scene can sit in your chest for years.

I am known for making people forget they’re photographed at all . For crafting images that look like they belong in a film you wish you could watch again. My clients tell me I bring a sense of comfort that lets them fully be themselves.. and that’s where the magic begins.

I am most proud of the boldness it took to start. The grit it took to keep going. The heart it took to build something that feels like home, for both me and the people who trust me with their biggest moments. I am proud that my work makes people feel, seen, held, and understood. I am proud that I took this childhood dream and made it a reality.

I don’t just create the photos. I create the atmosphere. I chase the emotion like it’s the light. I step into your story with intention, not interruption. I direct without force. I watch closely. I wait for the truth to appear.. and it always does. My images are cinematic because they’re honest. They’re emotional, they’re yours.

I don’t want you to look perfect. I want you to look like a moment you never want to forget.

What were you like growing up?
Picture this: a tine girl in a pink and white striped Barbie dress, white Go-go boots, and a sparkly crown… absolutely flying through the mud on a four wheeler like it was nothing. That was me. Pure adventure wrapped in glitter.

I made flower crowns in the morning, mud pies in the afternoon, probably tracked both into the house by dinner. I guess Ive always been a creator, just switching between dirt and daisies depending on the day.

I did pageants ( winning Young Miss SC one year!), but I also loved football. So much that if they would’ve let me play I would’ve done it in a heartbeat. I was equal parts princess and powerhouse.

You could’ve called me Sandy and I would’ve answered. I ran around the house singing Hopelessly Devoted to You like I was auditioning for grease… and the Spice Girls? That was my entire personality. I lived for girl power before I even knew what it meant.

I was wild, sparky, dramatic, fearless, creative, and ALWAYS chasing a new adventure.
