Today we’d like to introduce you to Golden Keltner.
Hi Golden, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Golden Keltner and I am a licensed esthetician! I own Golden Esthetics LLC in Camden, South Carolina. I graduated high school in 2022 and went straight into Southeastern Esthetics Institute, where I got my esthetician license in 2023. The day after graduation, I found out I was pregnant—definitely a surprise since being so young, but such a blessing. That summer, in June 2023, I opened my own small studio as a solo esthetician and started building my clientele from scratch.
After taking maternity leave, I had to basically start over and rebuild my clientele, which wasn’t easy. It took a lot of hard work, marketing on my own, and just pushing through the slow weeks.
In my studio, I specialize in lash extensions, body waxing, facials, and brow enhancements. I love helping clients feel confident and cared for, and I take pride in creating a relaxing, welcoming space where they can truly treat themselves.
Honestly, I wouldn’t trade this for anything. I get to do what I love, run my own business, and still be there for my little girl. The flexibility has been such a gift, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s definitely had its ups and downs. Some days are smooth, and others feel overwhelming. I’m only 21, so learning how to balance home life, being a mom, and running my own business has been a huge challenge—but also a huge blessing. I’ve had to grow up fast in some ways, but it’s made me stronger, more focused, and even more passionate about what I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lash extensions are definitely my most popular service, and they’ve become something I really enjoy doing. I always aim to give my clients the best results possible, and one thing that sets me apart is my retention—most of my clients can go about 3 weeks before needing a fill, sometimes even longer.
Over the past two years, I’ve seen a lot of growth in both my lash sets and overall technique, and that’s something I’m proud of. It’s taken time and consistency, but the progress is clear. I’ve been fully booked for a while now and have even had to close my books to new clients, which is a big milestone for me. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m grateful to be doing work I care about.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is to stay consistent and don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. In the beginning, it’s easy to feel discouraged when things are slow or when you see others further along—but everyone starts somewhere, and growth takes time.
