Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Castellon.
Hi Frankie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Frankie Castellon. I’m a hard working individual that was a native New Yorker, transplanted to Tampa, Florida, and halfbacked my way currently living in Greenville South Carolina. My goal is to be a baseball cap brand that will be not only a baseball player will wear, but a fashion statement. Right now I started Castellon Motivational Standard in 2018 as a reseller to some valuables my family kept for years and added some caps and shirts of my brand that are currently for sale. I’m also developing my YouTube channel and socials to put content involving baseball stadium news and give my commentary on how horrible Major League Baseball is handling certain situations.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
If the road were relatively smooth, I wouldn’t have learned anything. I don’t know everything there is to learn, and I continue learning every day. When I was 18 and technically an adult, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do with my life. I failed boot camp in the Navy, I failed at quite a few jobs, I’ve had failed relationships, and I couldn’t become financially independent. These were all things I had to learn along the way while growing up. I struggled in school, only took a couple of courses in community college, and couldn’t figure out what my career should be.
We were taught as children that you get a good education, land a good job, then work your way up in a company so you can retire. Nowadays, that’s a pipe dream for many millennials. I read Robert Kiyosaki’s book The Business of the 21st Century, which presents network marketing as an ideal business model. But what I really took away from it was the importance of building something that generates passive income. For me, that requires investing in myself.
Right now, I have a beautiful wife, two great daughters, and a job I enjoy—but my expenses still outweigh my income. Life happens, so I have to hustle. I created my YouTube channel to talk about what I’m passionate about: caps and stadium news. I also resell and have designed some t-shirts and caps that connect to my roots—but I want more. My goal is to start my own hat company and make a statement, whether it’s on the baseball field or out at a party. It’s about finding that “it” factor—and finding the right people to help bring that dream to life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I was a customer service agent working for many companies including in the Credit Card Processing Industry. I was not happy in that environment for 20 plus years. My current job is not only promoting my brand, but I have to pay the bills. I currently work full-time at a capacitor factory helping make a piece of the pacemaker to help people live longer. I am very happy and proud of my job, but it’s my job, not my life long goal for success.
How do you think about luck?
As a great comedian once said, whether you believe in God, the sun, or even Joe Pesci, the odds are always 50/50. For me, faith in God is a major factor—but even with that faith, the outcomes don’t always go my way. I don’t call it luck. Despite the struggles, I believe that through faith, I’ll receive more than I ever expected.
The story of Job in the Old Testament often comes to mind. He endured unimaginable tragedy, yet in the end, God rewarded him with more than he had lost. I see myself in that story. I’m struggling, but I believe I’m being given more than I ever bargained for—and I trust that will continue.
I never thought I’d have a family because of my self-esteem issues, but I ended up with far more than I imagined. My wife and kids are an incredible blessing—not just chance, but grace.
