Hi Ericka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sometimes, the best ideas come from life’s biggest challenges. For us, it all started when my husband was diagnosed with cancer. After going through treatment, he wasn’t able to return to his regular job. We needed a new path, something that would not only support our family but also bring joy to others.
The inspiration came during a visit to our daughter’s college in Tennessee. She took us to a small, tucked-away shop called Sno Cream, where we first experienced sno cream, a dessert based on a Korean dessert. The texture was soft, fluffy, and unlike anything we had ever tried. But while we loved the consistency, the traditional flavors and toppings weren’t quite our style. That’s when we had an idea—what if we Americanized sno cream with fun, familiar flavors like candy and cookies?
But we didn’t stop there. We wanted to create something entirely our own. That’s when we developed Flavored Sno, a completely unique product that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Unlike sno cream, which has a creamy, airy texture, Flavored Sno is closer to shaved ice—but with a twist. Instead of pouring syrup on top like traditional shaved ice, we infuse the flavor directly into the ice before shaving it. This means every bite is packed with flavor from the inside out, creating a refreshing and delicious experience that’s truly one of a kind.
We wanted a name that reflected our fun, quirky, and totally original approach to frozen treats. That’s how Alien Cow Flavored Sno was born—a name that sparks curiosity and invites people to try something out-of-this-world delicious.
Starting this business wasn’t just about making desserts; it was about creating something special, rebuilding our lives, and turning a challenge into an opportunity. Every time a customer takes their first bite and smiles with excitement, we’re reminded why we started this journey.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have the normal struggles of any ice-cream shop during the colder months or during the off season with lower sales. Also, our location isn’t the greatest because we are not in the middle of a town. We are on the back roads of Moncks Corner so it’s harder for people to locate us. We have people that are scared to step out of their comfort zone and try our sno cream and flavored sno because everyone is accustomed to soft serve and hard scoop ice-cream around here.

What truly sets Alien Cow Flavored Sno apart, though, is our theme and location. We’re not in a busy shopping center—we’re a hidden gem, a standalone building tucked away off the back roads of Moncks Corner. While we might not have the foot traffic of a big plaza, our customers seek us out, and once they find us, they keep coming back. Nothing makes us happier than seeing someone try us for the first time and then return the same day for more!
Since opening, we’ve gained a loyal following, thanks to word of mouth and social media. Our customers are our best advertisers, and their excitement keeps our business growing. Our dedication to quality and originality has even earned us recognition—we were voted a Finalist for Charleston’s Choice 2024 in the Ice Cream category and Winner of Berkeley’s Best 2024 for Ice Cream!
