Check Out Elizabeth Jablonski’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Jablonski.

Hi Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hey Everyone! I am excited to be interviewed for South Carolina Voyager; what an honor! I am originally from Cleveland, OH, and I lived in San Antonio, TX, for a few years before moving to Charleston in 2012. I am so glad I moved here. I love the beaches, the downtown area, and the food. It is the perfect place to be if you enjoy being outdoors, relaxing, or having events to attend. Soon after I moved here, I signed up for kickball through the Charleston Sports and Social Clubs, and that is how I met my partner, Matt. We now have 2 kids and a dog and live in Mt. Pleasant.

You wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
Every day is a challenge. Being a parent, working a full-time job, and finishing my Ed.D is no easy feat. I also recently became a real estate agent, and that is a whole separate challenge. There are a lot of realtors in the local area, so trying to find my own niche is difficult.  The good news is I am almost done with my doctorate and should graduate in a month; having that off my plate will free up so much time! Plus, the kids have their own social lives and activities. There is a lot going on, but we manage. Matt is the perfect partner and has taken the lead with a lot of these things while I finish my dissertation. Thanks again, babe!

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I have two jobs. I work full-time for the state in economic development and part-time as a realtor for ERA Wilder Realty on James Island. I love both fields, the economic development side is exciting and fast-paced, and I enjoy knowing who is coming to the area and what jobs they are bringing with them. In this role, I get to help South Carolinians, and companies prepare for the future.

As a realtor, I get to go house hunting, which I honestly love.  Matt and I move just about every two years ourselves, so…this position is a great fit for me. The older the home, the better, too; the real estate here in Charleston is just beautiful! I am at my happiest when I am walking around downtown and looking at all the houses. Matt and I also hope to flip homes at some point, and having a real estate license will be beneficial when this happens. The future is still unknown, but we are excited about it; there is a lot we hope to accomplish!
