Check Out Daniel Knowles’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Knowles

Hi Daniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Huntsville, AL and began my music career in a band we called Cadillac Sparrow. We had just graduated from Auburn University where we spent our weekends playing a wide range of tunes on various porches with anyone that would listen. We never thought we would be hired to play until after graduation a brewery gave us a spot and that grew into multiple gigs a month, even a wedding reception! We played with a lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist/vocalist, additional vocalist, and rotating percussion (and unsuspecting tambourine players from the crowd). We had a small following of family and friends. We were having a blast. We were all young professionals though and jobs, relationships, and more school eventually gave the band no choice but to part ways. After I attended grad school in Savannah, GA, I eventually landed in Charleston, SC with my wife, a Charleston native. I work as a physician assistant now but I also have carried on with my passion for music! I have been fortunate enough to play at several establishments around town as a solo guitarist and vocalist regularly over the past year. I have also had the privilege to join the vibrant Charleston wedding industry as a solo musician for welcome parties and cocktail hours. The Charleston wedding industry is one of the best in the country and it has been an honor to help bring each couples’ vision to life. Charleston has some of the most beautiful wedding venues, and I hope to play them all!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles in music is getting your first opportunity in a new city. I was lucky enough to be offered an opportunity at Coastal Crust based on a video from social media, and that helped open doors for me to continue to play around town! I was also lucky enough to have amazing wedding planners for my own wedding that eventually gave me my first opportunity in the wedding industry.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a solo acoustic guitarist and vocalist. I play anything from country to pop from the 60s to today. the main criteria I go by when I choose a song is whether I personally like it and whether it is fun to play. I specialize in modern country covers from artists like Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers but I will also throw in some Britney Spears and Taylor Swift on occasion.

I am most proud of the fact that I have been able to keep my music career alive through different phases of life and that I have broken into a whole new industry – the wedding business!
