Check Out Caroline Satterfield’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Satterfield.

Hi Caroline, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started out as a spa attendant working in downtown Greenville when I was 16. I loved the spa environment and saw firsthand how beneficial those services were for people, physically and mentally! I also had an interest in natural health and wellness, it was the perfect fit for me. I hadn’t decided on a career path at this point so I looked into becoming a massage therapist and an esthetician and everything fell into place. During school I had amazing teachers who not only helped prepare me for the industry but also encouraged me to step outside of my comfort zone and take my career further. After getting both of my licenses I worked at various spas in the area until I finally decided I wanted to take on the challenge of running my own practice. That was never something I had intended on doing, but it was the best decision I ever made. I’m so grateful for all the amazing people I get to work with every day. I love being able to help people, and I feel this has given me the opportunity to meet some incredible people along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth all the way. Opening your own business for sure has some challenges. There were a lot of internal battles that I had for a long time. Am I good enough to do this? Will people actually want to come to my own practice? Will I be able to pay my bills? And then outwardly occasionally running into issues like suddenly not having an office space to rent and needing to find a place with less than a months notice. That actually happened 2 times in the span of a year!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a massage therapist and esthetician. I offer a wide variety of services from massages to facials but one fun specialty I offer is Ashiatsu Massage. That’s a type of deep-tissue technique where therapists use their feet, instead of hands, to apply broad, consistent pressure, using overhead bars for balance and control.
