Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Molfese
Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Five years ago, my entrepreneurial journey began when I started sharing my postpartum experiences with my daughter on Instagram. What initially started as a way to connect with other women navigating the challenges of new motherhood has since evolved into a career that allows me to live my dream life.
In 2020, amidst the pandemic and following a divorce, I found myself at a crossroads: return to a traditional 9-5 job or fully commit to content creation as my career. I chose the latter, dedicating every effort to building my presence as a content creator. This decision has led to incredible opportunities, including partnerships with major brands like Walmart, Ninja, and Margaritaville. Content creation has not only enabled me to travel to places I never imagined but also to work from home and be present for my children every day.
In 2023, our blended family—myself, my husband, my ex-husband, his wife, and our two children—decided to leave Florida and move to South Carolina. Our goal was to provide our children with an idyllic small-town childhood, and we found that in Westminster. Over the past year, our lives have transformed in the best possible ways, including welcoming two more children into our family.
Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to take my expertise in social media to the next level by launching my own social media marketing firm this fall. Upstate Social Media and Marketing will offer local businesses, big and small, the tools they need to elevate their online presence. From content creation to scheduling and marketing strategies, I’m excited to share my knowledge and help our community’s businesses thrive.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d love to say the entrepreneurial journey has been easy, but it’s been anything but. My path as a content creator began during a challenging period in my life—navigating a divorce and a global pandemic. Yet, through those struggles, I’ve gained invaluable lessons, success, and joy that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Building my own business and creating my own success feels like what I was meant to do, a passion that I’ve inherited from my entrepreneurial parents.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a content creator, I’m dedicated to sharing my authentic motherhood journey, including both the highs and the lows. Social media often showcases only the highlights, and before I started sharing my own experiences, it made me feel like I wasn’t enough. I felt like my life was missing something, that I lacked love, and that my motherhood experience wasn’t what it should be. But when I began openly discussing my struggles with postpartum anxiety and depression, I connected with other moms facing similar challenges. It made me realize that what we often see on social media isn’t the full picture. Now, as a mother to a daughter, it’s my priority to always show up as my authentic self, limiting filters and staying true to the real moments of my life.
As I prepare to launch my own business in the coming weeks, I’m excited to specialize in content creation for local businesses. I’ve noticed that many business owners struggle with balancing the demands of running their business while managing their social media, often putting it on the back burner. With millennials and Gen Z turning to social media as their first source for reviews and experiences, having a strong online presence is crucial for growth. I’m eager to help businesses enhance their social media presence and reach their full potential.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The most important lesson I learned during the pandemic is that your dreams are never out of reach. I never imagined I’d be living my dream life in South Carolina with my family, but here I am. Going through a divorce during the pandemic forced me to rely on myself, become independent, and truly discover my entrepreneurial spirit. It also gave me the time I needed to heal, reflect, and grow into the woman I am today.
