Check Out Britney Hauser’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Hauser.

Hi Britney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Belinda Mairowicz started Kind Keeper Animal Rescue in 2016 because she seen the need for a community-based shelter to help homelessness, neglected animals and keep animals from being euthanized. The nonprofit rehabs/saves dogs and dogs and then finds them homes. We also make sure all animals get spayed or neutered. It started off small with a group of 8 volunteers to grow to over 300 active volunteers. We have also grown to have a foster program, have our cats at PetCo, have educational programs within the school systems, contribute to food banks and other nonprofits. In 2025 we obtained a spay and neuter mobile unit and started building a new animal shelter to allow us to move and hold more than 3 times the number of animals that we currently hold.

Britney Hauser started 2.5 years ago to grow the events, outreach, and education programs. She has grown with the company and is now lead up the building project to move forward by fundraising and looking for private donors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a long and bumpy road. Belindas life has taken an emotional roller coaster by shelter life becoming her life. She lives on the property so she can bottle feed, be on maternity watch and look after the sick. With the growing number of volunteers we try to make sure she has time for her grand kids.

The building project is just under a 3-million-dollar project that we are continuing to spend money on each phase of the building project. It’s very difficult to raise that large of a number without government funding. So, we work very hard and answer every phone call!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are mostly proud of the morals and business practices that we have at Kind Keeper. We are a non-kill facility. When a dog has emotional trauma, we don’t give up. We have amazing trainers and animal behaviorist that donate their time to help special cases.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Anyone can volunteer doesn’t matter your age or time commitment. You can volunteer for 30 minutes or 6 hours. All our emails/ phone calls/ dishes and events are run by volunteers. We need your help to continue and raise money.

Anyone can donate by having a school food drive or bringing in copy paper. ALL of it helps!
