Today we’d like to introduce you to Athena Jones
Athena, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always loved animals since I was a kind, we always had 3-4 cats and 1-2 dogs growing up but once I got into the real world I took a job that allowed me to travel all the time which was great but was not codusive to being a pet owner so instead when I was avialable I would take care of my friends and familes pets. Word of mouth got around and I found myself starting a business. My work does not require me to travel so much these days and I have become a great Aunt to so many fur familys.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I can honestly say I have been very fortunite to have a realtivly smooth journey as a business owner thus far. I’ve only had issues with two dogs who did not love having a realtive stranger come into their home. Even still we were able to take care of the necessities, food, water, and potty breaks. After the first oen occured I started reaching out to trainers and shelters in the area who have guided me futher on how to handle these situations better and continue to keep the pets safety and needs as the primary focus of all my pet services.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a wormen of many intrest and hobbies, I work full time as a software developer, I own and opperate Athenas Pawesome Pet Services, Volutneer for a Local Non Profit Called Aqua Angels as a Swim Instructor and I am also a Reiki Therapist. For me in all things I do professionally the center is joy, love, and expansion. When it comes to Athena’s Pawesome Pet Services not only do I have the trameduns joy of spending time with so many fur animals but I get to be apart of their natraul carefree, loving, joyful, and playful demeners. One things all my pet parents say is how much they love the pictures I take of thier fur families.
This eventurally led to me starting an instagram so they would have a place to go to see them anytime to now offering small 1×2 print outs of their favorte photos I’ve taken during each visit. More often than not I leave those behind as a lil surprise for the parents when they come home!
For me its not just about sitting with the pets and taking care of their basic needs, I love them as I would if they were my own and not only have a become apart of the pets family but all of my clients and their familes feel like family to me too. I hope I am able to continue to foster that love and community in all that we do.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I did start my business after covid had subsided and life whet back to some symblance of normal. Higne has always been important to me in regards to pet care but thats true even more so now.
