Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevino Reid.
Hi Trevino, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We started Charleston Tidy on November 10th, 2017, with a mop and a bucket.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was a smooth ride as it pretends to be the business of Charleston Tidy, but there were some struggles. We didn’t realize that family was also a business! We needed roles established, and it was hard to distinguish family life from business life. We pulled through and committed ourselves to learning how to balance the two entities, though. Of course, COVID created a challenge. We lost over 45% of our business during that time, and things got scary, but we could pull through.
Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Charleston Tidy Commercial Cleaning, LLC is a family-owned and operated full-service cleaning company that services the Charleston Tri-County area. We are native to the area and take pride in our local roots. Our main specialization is general office cleaning, but we also offer a range of à la carte services such as move-in move-out cleaning, deep cleaning, post-construction cleaning, 1st story window cleaning, stripping and waxing of floors, and carpet cleaning. We are known for our attention to detail and have established ourselves as leaders in our field. One key aspect of our brand that we want people to know is our deep commitment to the community. Our proudest achievement is the creation and funding of T.R.A.D.E.S Works, a program designed to provide opportunities for young adults and at-risk youth. This initiative pairs them with local tradesmen and small businesses, offering paid apprenticeships, mentorship, and financial literacy education. Our tagline, “Taking care of Life’s messes,” embodies our commitment to maintaining your facility and contributing to the community’s growth and development. We believe that “Opportunity Uplifts the Community” and strive to shape and mold the next generation’s mindset while preparing them for a successful future.
What changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
It’s a scary thought, but more companies will allow employees to work from home. I think there will always be a need for commercial cleaning, but we plan on pivoting to the industrial space. I don’t see that part of the industry slowing down anytime soon! We know there will always be restaurants, industrial plants, apartment complexes, etc., but the idea of the traditional office, cubicles, and the need for front office staff to be in the same space will change over the next decade.
