Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Schneider.
Hi Anne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Anne Schneider, and I am a pediatric occupational therapist and owner of Schneider Therapy Services, LLC. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. As I chose where to go to college and what I wanted to major in, I knew I wanted to work with children individually. It allowed me to establish a relationship with the child and become someone who makes a difference in their lives. Occupational Therapy was everything I was looking for in a career. It allowed me to be creative, develop close bonds with children and families, and be flexible by working with various patient populations. I could then specialize in the field when I found my passion. Throughout my career, I have worked as an occupational therapist in multiple facets. However, my passion and love have always been with my pediatric patients. My husband and I always wanted to move south into a warmer climate, and as we started our family, we decided to take a leap of faith and move to Mt Pleasant, SC, in 2015. While creating my pediatric career in South Carolina, it became obvious there was an ever-growing need for more specialized care for children with feeding difficulties. I wanted to specialize in a more specific pediatric population and assist families and children with feeding challenges. I started Schneider Therapy Services, LLC to broaden my focus on children with more food aversions by incorporating various foods into their diet. Specializing in feeding treatment allows me to stay within the pediatric population.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning my private practice has allowed me to gain the work/life balance I have always strived to have. It has allowed me to be a better clinician, mom, and wife. I have always wanted to own a business, be creative, and make a difference. Being a small business owner and occupational therapist has allowed me to fulfill my dreams. Starting my private practice was the next step in my career and has turned out to be more than I could have imagined. The bonds and relationships I have made with my family, other small business owners, and workers within the field are truly special to me personally and professionally. It has not come easy, and I have worked hard to overcome all the challenges. I will continue to persevere through the upcoming bumps in the road to stretch and grow my skill set within Occupational Therapy.
We’ve been impressed with Schneider Therapy Services, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
Schneider Therapy Services, LLC provides specialized pediatric occupational therapy services to children with fine motor, gross motor, and sensory processing disorders, emotional regulation, and feeding difficulties. I am certified in sensory-based feeding disorders and strive to make stressful mealtimes easier and more fun by changing a child’s relationship with food. I focus on finding similarities and differences with foods and allow for exploration and learning for a child to gain confidence in attempting new foods. I also have expertise with neuro-developmental techniques, emotional regulation strategies, and sensory processing adaptations, allowing children to grow and achieve independence in their daily tasks.
