Taylor Czerwinski

Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I moved to Charleston for college and graduated with a BA in studio art and arts management. After graduation, there was so much pressure to get a “real job,” so I had a 9 to 5 working sales, and I quickly realized how much I hated it. But I did learn amazing skills to pitch myself, pitch my product, and talk to people! I went on to quit so I could start a local music and photography publication called 9 to 5 Magazine. It was a quarterly printed publication that I and a local designer worked to produce. We didn’t rely on ads, so sales of the issue solely funded it through live events. I’d curate live shows of the artists featured in the magazine to make it a huge community event, and we did this successfully for 4 years. Covid came and wiped everything out, so I focused on my photography more independently. I now work with small businesses/ brands and shoot weddings full-time.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Phew. It has been a challenging road for me. The magazine was my baby and had its ups and downs financially and personally. I realized how much I avoided recognizing myself as an artist and prioritized everyone else’s artistry before my own. I learned so much from my fellow artists, took what I learned, and applied it to myself. I even went on to make my album! Pssssst. I also play music. I am a singer-songwriter in addition to my photography! You can find my music on Spotify under Taylor Lee Czer.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I specialize in working with artists/ creatives and small businesses. I provide equal parts photography and insight on how to strategize brands and businesses to utilize the content we create strategically. I love being involved in helping my clients understand how to be more involved in the community and how to elevate their brand. That is what sets me apart as a photographer! I’m much more complicated than that! I’ve worked on sets as large as Rack Room Shoes and as tiny as Charlestons’ favorite local artists and restaurants. No client is too big or too small.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
My books are open for brands and small businesses looking to make cool content and elevate their brand. Just shoot me an email! Taylorlczerwinski@gmail.com
