Unhappy with my job, I knew I needed something that resonated with my soul. I delved into researching fragrance blending and various candle waxes, and my heart settled on the beauty of coconut wax blends. Countless trials with wicks and vessels followed, almost a year of testing, to be exact. And then, a turning point. I knew it was time to transform my passion into reality and share it with the world. I believed every aspect of my brand had to reflect the luxury and allure I cherished while shopping. This personal touch birthed MIA|JOHN, a fusion of my name. MIA|JOHN isn’t just a brand; it’s an extension of my essence. In just a year, we’ve grown exponentially, finding a home in several independent stores, including Blank Slates at the Tanger Outlet. We have even graced the pages of British Vogue. This journey has proven that following your passion can truly create something remarkable.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Creating MIA|JOHN has been an incredible journey despite its challenges. The toughest part has been building trust with consumers who already have their favorite brands. Convincing them that our products are not only on par but possibly even better has been a hurdle. Being a new company, I completely understand their skepticism. However, with dedication, perseverance, and the quality of our products, we’re slowly but surely breaking through those barriers and making our mark in the world of home fragrance.
