Today we’d like to introduce you to Orrin Brown.
Hi Orrin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been intrigued by technology. Growing up in Youngstown, Ohio, I was a jack-of-all-trades type of kid. I grew up playing video games and sports and picked up the violin naturally. A good friend of mine has a drone, and the first time I flew one, I was hooked! Immediately I knew I could eventually start a business or, at the very least, learn how to become a remote pilot. Serving in the Air Force also taught me that opportunity is always around us. I never thought leaving Ohio at 20 would lead me to where I am now. God speaks to our hearts, and sometimes you have to take that leap of faith. Not to sound cliché, but that’s the truth. I’ve always enjoyed a good view no matter the location and naturally progressed towards wanting to get a drone. Charleston is a very historic and picturesque town surrounded by a lot of great scenery and beaches. I guess I was organically drawn to the opportunity to use my drone from a business standpoint and just because I could capture life here from a different perspective. Perspective is key. Conditions are as well, as I’ve learned that capturing the perfect sunset needs the right conditions. I’m enjoying the journey so far and realize there’s a lot to learn.
Would it have been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a challenging journey. The first step was educating myself on becoming a remote pilot in command. I learned that to make money flying my drone, and I would need to become FAA certified. I was working full time, so the drive to get my part 107 wasn’t as strong initially. However, the more I studied and became familiar with my equipment, the more the material that was initially foreign at that time started to make sense. The hardest part was the test. The course I used helped, but the test was no joke. I had to encourage myself and believe I could do this because it was worth it.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about B3 Ventures LLC?
For me, life is a venture. It is uncertain. I came up with this business name because, just as the definition states, life is an undertaking, and that of itself is a journey and an adventure. You don’t know how it will turn out, but there must be a beginning. It doesn’t stop, either. Change is constant, but I must continue and be willing to see what the end will be. I have a few projects in the pipeline starting in this arena. I’m open to helping anyone in the real estate business (residential or commercial) get the best perspective for the clients using my drone services. I’m also looking at getting into bridge inspections, photogrammetry, and the film industry. What sets me apart from others is my creativity. I’ve always seen things differently from others and can help future clients get the right shot that they are looking for.
How do you define success?
My definition of success is getting better at what you do. You can get a great shot or video one day, but there is always something or someone you can learn from. That applies to all areas of life. I’m also a successful Father because I’m getting better at it every day. Using my past experiences (good and bad) coupled with the grace of God is a winning combination. The ultimate definition of success is using my skills and talents to glorify God.
