Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Evans.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
My family and I have lived in Upstate, SC, for nearly 20 years. I discovered my love of design when I took a drafting course in middle school. My passion is creating functional spaces for people to enjoy while weaving in beautiful and meaningful touches that make a house warm and welcoming! However, I just recently got started in interior design because my husband and I built our dream home. During COVID, the timeline and budget went out the window. To top it all off, our builder didn’t assign a Project Manager to our job, and I noticed many details falling through the cracks. Not wanting to sit idle and watch by the sidelines, I gathered the contact information of most of the subs and started meeting with them on the job site. I felt completely overwhelmed when it came to choosing the finish selections. I lost sleep and weight during the 17-month process and knew there had to be a better way. The stress I experienced during our build process was the catalyst that allowed me to see an opportunity to start my own interior design business. I love efficiency, so I have developed a streamlined and well-organized process to help other overwhelmed homeowners like myself.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For the most part, it has been surprisingly smooth. I am a “go-getter,” so I have marketed my business to anyone and everyone who will listen – consumers and builders alike. Everyone has received my business idea very well and been supportive, even by helping me connect with others who may need my services. I have been so grateful for the support! My biggest challenge is trying to have a work-life balance, and since my mind never “turns” off, I have trouble sleeping!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Design Your Dream delights in providing creative solutions, tailored to the unique style and needs of our clients. Through our streamlined process and attention to detail, we focus on efficiency and timeless design while establishing deep connections with homeowners and builders alike, leading them through an enjoyable experience.
I partner with a lot of builders first rather than the client. Establishing a solid working relationship with the builder first has proven most effective. Introducing me to their customer creates a collaborative team environment for us to work together towards the same goal. My mission is to bring structure and a team effort to the building process. Clear communication and effective collaboration make our team a valuable liaison so that builders’ customers can make confident decisions faster, keeping the project on track for success. My outcome-oriented approach is simple yet impactful: improve the builder’s life, add value to their company, and delight their customers! Whether it’s a custom home builder or volume builder, my business background naturally gives me a logical and organized approach. I respect their timeline, budget, and any other guidelines they provide for their project.
What do you think about happiness?
Getting to know my clients by listening to their goals, whatever scale the project may be, is one of my favorite parts of what I do. Many times my clients become my friends, and I love this! Innovation, efficiency, and a logical approach are my strengths. My ultimate goal is for you to LOVE where you LIVE! Creativity, attention to detail, and organizational principles make the design experience fun from beginning to completion! Respecting my client’s budget and timeline is key to a successful working relationship. Once the plans are in place and agreed upon, clients become partners as the exciting transformation begins!
