Hi Ayana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Ask yourself, “What does God have planned for me?” Jeremiah 29:11 For I know my plans for you to prosper and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “The motto I go by gave me that push!” Opening Boujee Barbz Boutique truly has been a journey for me. I began manifesting this idea for a while, and at the time, I knew absolutely nothing about business, nor did I know what I wanted to call it. Initially, I was hesitant because I felt like everybody was doing the same thing. I began praying about it, and God was leading me to go all in; I also had a friend that knew a business that gave me the game and told me to go for it. So I did just that. I knew I wanted my brand to represent boujee, stylish, and confident. I wanted it to represent a “Barbie” girl living in the material world. I began researching names. Every person has a shine or glows when they feel confident and believe that the person inside the clothing is like a precious gift. Therefore I call my boutique Boujee Barbz Boutique; this is my baby; it was designed for women with confidence, period! Currently, it’s just an online boutique where I ship and do local pickups; one day, I will have a warehouse. I’m not really into having a storefront, at least now. This is just the start of a much more successful future.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, I have been inventing the wheel and re-inventing it as it grows, and I mold it to be perfect. One of the struggles I have faced is understanding marketing and the versatile ways of marketing that come with being an online boutique and making sure your target audience likes the merchandise. I am certainly making it happen! You will learn “Everybody” is not for you, and that’s just fine!
As you know, we’re big fans of Boujee Barbz Boutique LLC. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
Boujee Barbz Boutique is an online boutique specializing in only women’s fashion, such as clothes, shades, hats, and much more I’m about to add. As of now, I range from Small to X-Large, but I’m also looking to expand to plus size. What sets my brand apart from all the other clothing boutiques around my area is its uniqueness, from the inventory to the packaging to the social media marketing. I always try to go for cute and different pieces I haven’t seen in other boutiques around here. I never want to be doing or selling what everybody else is doing or selling. I’m proud of the fact that this is all me. All me, I invested in everything all by myself. We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as knowing that you excelled at accomplishing every goal (big or small) that you set out to achieve; nothing beats a try but a failure, so never stop trying!
