Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Goodwin.
Hi Ana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In high school, I was surrounded by people who knew what college they wanted to attend and what career path they wanted to take. And I was never excited about going to school. I knew I wanted to become rich one day, and with the amount of money I wanted, a regular job would not get me there, and if it did, I would be overworked with no freedom. I tried different things to get me to my goal faster. I did affiliate marketing with companies like Forex and Amway. I did makeup on the side and modeling. The last thing I did was start a clothing business, and along the way, I had an aha moment. None of these were truly my passion, and I needed to find something I could be passionate about but also something that would give me the desired income and freedom I wanted. So I became a Realtor and realized you’re going to have good and bad seasons no matter what you choose to do in life, but if you are passionate about that one thing, you’re not going to give up on it; you’ll keep going. So I advise anyone at any age or stage that it’s okay to try it all. If the career path you’re on is not making you happy, change it unapologetically again and again and again. Stop listening to outside opinions and do what you truly want to do.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over time I have grown and become better at things like reaching out to people, conversing, and walking up to complete strangers. So far, I have struggled with being comfortable with doing the uncomfortable. I was always shy and to myself growing up, so actually putting myself out there sometimes gives me anxiety. My biggest downfall has been overthinking and wanting perfection. But nothing will ever be perfect, and nothing good comes from overthinking. You have to do it to get better at it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
Getting into Real Estate gave me many opportunities and has put me in rooms with the most amazing people who share similar goals. As a Realtor, you get to help so many people. Money is good, but money doesn’t measure how successful you are if you haven’t built genuine relationships with people. And I get to be of service to people—especially people my age. I’m 23, and many people around that age have no clue what buying a home even looks like, let alone have any interest in it. Buying a house is one of the biggest investments you will make, and you need someone who can guide you, advocate and educate you so you can make the right decision. And also, there are so many ways to make money in Real Estate, and if you start young, you will set yourself up for the future.
Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Knowledge is the key to life. I love love love a good book. I read a lot of books on manifestation and business. My favorite books would be Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, The Four Agreements by Don Ruiz, The Go-Giver by Bob Burg and John David Mann, and The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan. If you don’t have a lot of time to read, you can always use the audible to listen to it while cooking, in the shower, or in the car. But it is so important that you are always feeding your mind and growing.
