Community Highlights: Meet Ashley Gardner of Boudoir by Ashley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Gardner.

Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started my journey with photography in California in 2014, after my oldest daughter was born. I decided to make it into a business in 2017 and chose to focus on family lifestyle photography! I loved it, but once we moved to Georgia in 2018, I started researching boudoir photography. I started slow with boudoir to ensure I knew what I was doing before taking clients. I held many model calls and fell utterly in love with boudoir. From there, I spent almost all my time studying posing, lighting, editing, skin retouching, and much more. I fully launched Boudoir by Ashley in 2019, and it has been such an incredible journey. The stories I have heard and the amazing women I have gotten to know are just a few reasons why boudoir photography fills my soul. There is nothing else I’d instead do at this point in my life than show women of all backgrounds, ages, sizes, and colors that they are incredible and powerful beings.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Launching a boudoir business in a small, bible belt southern town was a struggle initially. I think it was something many people here weren’t ever used to seeing, and it was shocking! So many people (both men and women) would make comments and try to shame me for doing this.

As you know, we’re big fans of Boudoir by Ashley. What can you tell our readers who might not be as familiar with the brand?
I am known for my luxury boudoir brand here in Augusta. I am a full-service studio providing hair and makeup for all of my clients and a client closet with over 400 pieces of clothing and accessories to choose from. My images are sensual, moody, and powerful. My clients not only come to me because all of the women in my photos look confident and beautiful but because of the service I provide. During the session itself, I provided expert posing assistance the whole time. As for our products, they are all beautifully handcrafted and custom designed for each client.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is being a person who can impact someone’s life for the better. Being a boudoir photographer, I have met women from all walks of life, and each one of them has invited me into their hearts for a moment to allow me to get to know them and their stories. I have had women cry into my shoulder when they look at their images for the first time because they finally see themselves in a way they never have before.
