Hidden Gems: Meet Stanley Owings of iMpact Color Cosmetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stanley Owings.

Hi Stanley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
iMpact Color Cosmetics began in my small NYC apartment almost 15 years ago. I was the Lead Makeup Artist for YSL based in The Big Apple. Feeling unfulfilled and realizing my artistry had become my ministry, I knew I had to resign and began creating iMpact. I started with a manufacturer and team of chemists in Long Island, NY, and still work with them today; soon after I launched, my father’s health began to decline, and I felt God calling me back to the Carolinas. I became his primary caregiver until his passing in 2019. I’m still a caregiver today to my 86 years “young” mom! I feel as if I’ve won the jackpot! I get to live my passion every day and take care of those who took care of me. It’s a great honor. My brand turns 15 this December. It’s been the most challenging yet most incredible thing I’ve done. Being an entrepreneur isn’t for the faint of heart. That’s why I feel I’m perfect for it! I have grit, drive, and determination. It helps that I love what I do.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been smooth. Being an entrepreneur means you have to see the big picture — always! It’s those days you’re tempted to get caught up in the day-to-day struggle it’s hardest. I believe in reminding myself frequently to stay focused. I also know when to step away and take a break. That takes some learning, but I’ve gotten better at it. I’ve learned that communication with your customer at every step (the good, bad, and the ugly) is super important and builds long, trusting relationships! And respect!

About iMpact Color Cosmetics, the idea behind iMpact color cosmetics was to reflect our philosophy of simplicity in our packaging and presentation. The sleek minimalist design of each product is a subtle reminder that many times in life less is more. The fashion houses of Calvin Klein, Prada, and Armani were all inspirations for the final result. In a logo-obsessed world, we consciously decided to be the brand of the anti-logo boldly. We wanted our brand to be identifiable by more than just a logo. iMpact color cosmetics is recognized for its chic minimalism and iconic “i” on each product. From our “I’m special HD lip polish” to our “I’m humble lipstick” to our “I’m healthy foundation,” our underlying message with each of our products is to use one’s life to make an iMpact on the lives of others.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
My faith is first and foremost! My brand began with a vision and faith as small as a mustard seed. Without God, none of this would’ve been possible. It’s been amazing to watch Him move as I activate my faith!
