Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Brees.
Hi Destiny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Rural Alaska, but my Grandmother was a hairdresser, and I was always interested in everything she did from a very young age. I am also an artist and attended art summer camps every year as a teenager, and I found hair styling and makeup an excellent creative outlet. I was very involved in theatre, and my first long-term job was in a salon doing reception and management. Life happened, and years later, I found myself a single mother living in Las Vegas, and there was no other option for me to pursue my dreams. I attended cosmetology school, worked in a salon daily, and bartended at night. Slowly I moved into management and decided that becoming a mobile HMUA was where my heart was calling me. Pairing with some of the top-notch photographers nationwide, I found myself working for various fitness publications and even got my work published on the cover of Playboy, and working in one of Vegas’ top salons and Spas at the Aria o the strip where my clientele included celebrities like Jennifer Tilly and Tisha Campbell. However, Bridal and lifestyle glam became my favorite niche. I opened my mobile Beauty Artistry business in 2016 and have glammed over 800 weddings and elopements since.
During covid, I moved to Charleston, SC, where my husband is from, and have been working on establishing myself as a reputable and reliable mobile beauty artist. I travel everywhere from Charlotte, NC, Savanna, GA, and Myrtle Beach, SC. I have close working relationships with many reputable lifestyle photographers and wedding event coordinators. I even offer one-on-one private makeup lessons and weekly in-home blow-out services. My heart and passion drive me to empower women and give them confidence by enhancing their best features and teaching them the power of makeup and beauty.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every interaction and day is on-the-job training and an opportunity to grow; my journey has had many learning moments. I am grateful for each one.
Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I focus on enhancing, not altering. I can do all avenues of glam, but my main focus is bringing the best out in my client in a way that allows them to still look like themselves, just elevated. I don’t like full coverage, overly contoured, layered glam. My ideal client is a normal woman who lives life but needs a little boost or to elevate their looks to empower. I am a lover of natural or soft glam. I am extremely passionate about making the experience I offer to be impactful to the client in the most positive way possible. I try to be very “Real” and focus less on the business and more on the value of my service.
Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
What matters most is after I provide my service, my client is left loving themselves more.
