Life & Work with Zachary Thomas of Anderson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Thomas.

Hi Zachary, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
For a long time, I felt stuck. I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and I wanted to get out my entire life. 2 years ago now, I finally did, and that started me on a journey. Today by all definitions, I am homeless. I live in my car and travel the world. Living this way is my choice, and I have no regrets. From a musical background, I always dreamed of touring the world with a band and playing concerts every night; now, I can do that if I want to. I spent many days figuring out where I wanted to go; yesterday, I took a trip to Asheville, NC, and walked up a mountain to spectacular views. The lifestyle I’ve chosen has given me the opportunity and means to travel whenever I want to; no need to book a hotel or plan out every detail; just hit the road and figure out when you get there! It’s not for everyone, but I’ve never been happier.

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
Not! With everything you do in life, there are pros and cons. Finding a sleeping setup that worked for me took me a while. Figuring out food and other necessities is also a challenging task. Sometimes in parking lots, other people will play loud music or just loud vehicles, which can be an annoyance. Overall you learn to deal with things and find comfort in knowing you won’t be here forever.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create short snippets of my journey online and make music sometimes. I’m most proud of my dedication to this lifestyle and that I’m doing it.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I wasn’t living this lifestyle when it was at its peak. However, there are still some places that take precautions. I learned I am very comfortable being alone and have become more comfortable with silence.
