Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Eady.
Hi Justin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always wanted to start a business but needed to figure out what I wanted to do. A terrible storm went across upstate South Carolina in Seneca a few years back. A very close friend of mine’s mother had a huge tree fall on top of her house. After receiving the news, a few guys formed a crew and drove 3 hours to do whatever we could to help. We ended up assisting in getting the tree pulled off the roof. I’ll never forget the pride I felt simply being of service to someone in need. That was the day I decided to start a business. My business started with just basic lawn care. Cutting grass was something I had done as a chore growing up, so why not? I took some money I had saved up and bought a lawn care setup. My time cutting grass is when I realized the industry had so many issues regarding reliability. The most important part of any business I run would be simply being a man of my word and communicating if things don’t go as planned. While doing lawn care, I met an older guy waiting to pressure wash a property I had been working on. I asked him a few questions about it; the rest was history. Mr. Eddie took me under his wing and showed me all he had learned in the 25 years he had been pressure washing.
I purchased my first rig from him, and after a year, I invested in a much bigger rig to handle any job that may get thrown my way. Pressure washing has turned into something I love to do! I believe in offering a quality service to every person I serve at a reasonable and affordable price. My mission isn’t just to serve in pressure washing and build long-lasting relationships. It is an honor and a privilege for someone to trust me with something as valuable as their hard-earned property, no matter what the job requires. Not only do I want to earn their trust, but I want to serve them in any capacity that I’m able to for the rest of their lives. I intend to leave a positive impact on this earth by simply showing God’s love in everything I do.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you enter something you’ve never done, it can be a little scary and challenging. I was anxious about getting to my first house when I first started. I showed up on time and did everything required with a little extra on top. The pride and satisfaction I felt confirmed that pressure washing was what I wanted to do. Then there comes a time when you hit a dry spell, which means no clients! I got the idea that if I invested in the equipment and did everything right, I would stay busy. It wasn’t even about the income, but I just wanted to be out there doing what I loved to do. It’s a harsh reality, but it humbles you. I realized that this business was going to grow slowly. I would have to stay diligent and patient, and all would fall into place eventually. Suddenly, people started calling, and one house after another, more calls kept coming in. The support of friends and family allowed me to grow in the business. They took a chance on me by letting me service their property and spread the word to those they knew. I had to learn that patience is a virtue. Good things will truly happen if you put in the time, be respectful, and keep your word. I take pride in even the small things when I get called to do a job quote; it’s more than just looking at and pricing for me. I want to get to know the person putting their faith in me. People need to know that they are worth my time. The road has been fairly smooth for the most part. There are constantly growing pains when trying something new, but making mistakes and learning from them is all a part of life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.
I provide a pressure washing service for residential and commercial properties in any capacity needed. What sets me apart from others is my communication. Whether good news or bad, I pride myself on being honest and a man of my word. I’m proud of my relationships and will continue to build them. I also offer affordable pricing in an industry that can be so up and down.
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is quite simple. I want people to feel like their hard-earned money was well spent. One big lesson from my mentor Mr. Eddie was it’s not about how fast you do the job but how well you do it. Quality over quantity. Sometimes it may take me a little longer to do a job, but I have a certain quality that I seek and will strive to achieve every chance I get. There is no better feeling than when your client is amazed at the job that you’ve done. It’s almost like it was unexpected. That in itself gives me the energy to continue going. My goal is to leave a lasting impression on this earth. Not just because I’m a guy who specializes in pressure washing but because I’m respectful and honest and believe my word is my bond. I don’t want people to feel cheated or taken advantage of, so I will always be fair in my pricing. I want to be the guy you know will do what he says every time. I want to be the only person you call when you need the services offered.
