Roosevelt “BlackRose” Taylor, the creator of The Harlem Art Club There is significant value in developing, executing and maintaining an art curriculum to help our youth through challenging times. In addition, my research has proven youth and seniors can benefit from the opportunity to learn various techniques and experience art.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the struggles is not being able to reach every child that is unfortunately not able to get exposure to any form of art. Art is being stripped away from young kids in school and it’s hurting the kids and keeping them in a box an not allowing them to be free thinkers.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
COVID was a difficult time, it had a major impact on so many lives. COVID made me change some healthy habits and reach out to people I’ve been out of touch with that means a lot to me.
