Inspiring Conversations with Hailey Anderson of Hailey Rose Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Anderson.

Hailey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For the majority of my life, I was waitressing full time for years. I became very unhappy with not having a consistent schedule and the grueling hours of being on my feet for 13 hours a day without a break. I began believing there were no employment opportunities that I could enjoy and genuinely love. I reflected and realized that I had to start putting myself and mental health first. I remember loving photography when I was little and my first camera being a small handheld Canon that I was completely attached to. I remember making photo albums of different flowers found within our local area as well as wildlife. I loved every second of it and thought, why can’t I do this now? Why can’t I have a job that I genuinely love that gives me that same passion and inspiration in life? I called my husband that same day and him always being my biggest supporter, his words were, “Go for it.” That was all I needed to hear. I gave my job my notice and started my photography journey! I took a mentorship program and worked every day learning new skills and finding my own voice within my work. Photography has given me the creative freedom and lifestyle I so desperately wanted and love!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I worked every single day to build my business from the ground up while also being enrolled at a 4-year university full time. Another passion of mine is Law so I am currently enrolled in a Pre-Law program with the aspiration of one day attending Law School. Juggling these two important aspects of my life has defiantly not been easy, especially at the beginning of trying to figure out my groove. I would be in school for 13 hours taking five classes one day, then photography the following day. Or I would be in school for 8 hours one day, then drive straight to a photo shoot right after. These are both very important in my life, therefore, I feel the struggle is absolutely worth it at the end of the day. I am so proud of how much I have accomplished and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Without the struggle, I wouldn’t know how much I am capable of achieving in life.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I built my business from the ground up and I’m so proud of how far I have come! From taking photography mentorship programs, to working every single day to find my style and creativity, I’ve loved every second of it. I adore family and couples sessions because my work is defiantly very candid. I don’t do a lot of posing, specifically because I feel like the best photos are the ones unplanned. I love capturing kiddos running around their parents or couples laughing and running on the beaches as if I wasn’t even there! What sets me apart from others would have to be how open I am to new ideas that clients want to try out! One of my very first photoshoots was a portrait reflection where I captured someone within a mirror. I thought it was so creative and stunning, after-all life is all about trying new things!

What matters most to you?
What matters to me most is that my clients feel comfortable through their photoshoot process. I know how intimidating it can be when someone you don’t know is taking pictures of you. I love laughing with my clients, making them feel comfortable and so they have a stress-free experience with their families and loved ones!
