Daily Inspiration: Meet Amanda Booth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Booth.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started sculpting and working with clay last year in 2021 as a therapy for myself. I was in a really dark place and having that creative outlet really helped pull me out of it. My friends and followers on Facebook kept throwing custom requests at me for jewelry pieces and sculptures and then one day, I had a friend who tragically lost her son and asked if I could make a memorial set for her using his ashes. Even though I had never incorporated materials into the clay before I said yes and the set turned out beautiful. That prompted another friend to ask if I could find a way to do the same with Breastmilk. Things quickly blew up from there and almost overnight I started getting hundreds and hundreds of messages each day with requests for custom pieces.

Semen jewelry, aka Jizzy jewelry came from a comment on one of my breastmilk videos, and it became a joke around the office of something we should get into. It wasn’t until I shared that joke on Facebook and all of a sudden serious requests started coming in. I’m always up for a challenge so I decided to go for it!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Overcoming the hate comments and judgmental nay-sayers has to have been the hardest part.

I just want to make pretty things and make my clients happy no matter what they order or how strange it may be. I strive to be open-minded and judgment-free because I want to be that safe space that people can come to for something that will be special for them.

Because I keep myself in that mind frame, it’s hard for me to understand how little old me playing with Jizzy samples puts so many people into a giant uproar.

But I keep reminding myself that any publicity can be good publicity and if I’m shocking people, then I’m better at marketing than I thought, lol.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a clay artist who primarily works with polymers clay. I specialize and am known for incorporating materials into the clay from Breastmilk, ashes, flowers and herbs, hair, fir, grave dirt, placenta, umbilical cords and now semen and vaginal fluid into my pieces (both jewelry and sculptures).

Clients come to me with crazy visions and I bring them to life through my art. Even if I haven’t done something before or it’s something totally new, we still roll with it and end up making something beautiful

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
