Today we’d like to introduce you to Zykia Williams.

Hi Zykia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
All through my high school years, I’ve always known that I had a passion for helping others, so after graduating high school I jumped right into studying nursing in college. After a few years of attending college, I realized that I still had a passion for helping others, but I didn’t want to limit myself to just helping in the medical field and my focus changed. I didn’t just want to help people get well, I wanted to help people feel confident in themselves and also love themselves more.

I started by becoming a lash technician, providing a service that would boost someone’s confidence from a 5 to a 10. Shortly after perfecting that I launched a candle line. This was specifically for self-care purposes. Candles have been scientifically proven to calm your mind, support more restful sleep, stimulate memory, improve your mood, and the list goes on. Right now I’m halfway through my journey of becoming a licensed esthetician where I’ll be able to assist more in getting everyone to the highest level of self-love and self-care.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road definitely did not start off smooth, but I didn’t let it discourage me because I’m a firm believer in “Good thing’s don’t come easy”. If you want that successful, financially free, luxury lifestyle you’ll have to work hard and overcome the obstacles each day to reach that point.

At the beginning of my entrepreneurship career, some of the biggest challenges I faced were finances, time management, and marketing. It all starts with a mindset though, as long as you keep a clear and positive mind while focusing on the goal rather than the obstacle you’ll be able to overcome anything!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Right now, I am enrolled at an amazing school- studying Esthetics, and set to graduate this year in November. I am the CEO of Her Candle Land, which is a candle line that I recently launched this year to promote self-care.

I also am the CEO of Her Lashes and Her Skin Studios. I specialize in taking care of others, I want everyone to be able to reach the highest level of self-love and self-confidence. I feel that my businesses are what set me apart from others. I have multiple businesses, but they all have the same end goal and that’s to promote self-care and self-love.

I am most proud of the mother I am, aside from my businesses. I am also working to show my sons that the sky is no longer the limit and that they can go as far as they’d like. Every seed I plant today is to ensure they have a huge garden in the future.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think taking risks is a part of being a business owner. I’ve never met a successful entrepreneur that hasn’t had to make a risky decision in hopes to improve their business.

Whether it be leaving your 9-5 or purchasing that $1,500 class to increase your knowledge. Life is all about decisions and risk, just make sure you’re choosing the risk you take wisely. Everything isn’t going to be a profitable risk.
