Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Robinson.
Hi Alicia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I would have to say I’ve always been into health and beauty since I was very young. I got my first makeup kit at around 11 years old. Like any other girl, I loved playing in makeup. Since 11, I’ve always said that I was placed here for something much bigger. It was the age of 12 when I got introduced to the small world of YouTube! I would sit on the computer for hours watching my favorite makeup gurus and perfecting my craft. At the age of 13-14, Puberty hit HARD! My skin was breaking out with so much acne. That’s when I got into skincare. I would make a homemade facial mask and just trying out different products that I thought would get rid of the acne. By the time I turned 19, I wanted to be a YouTuber. I would make skincare videos on my facial routine, and what helped me, also get ready with me videos and vlogs and post them on my channel. I also would go on Facebook live and interact with my followers since that was my biggest platform with over 38k followers. By the time I turned 21, I got introduced to esthetics. I was still in school at the time majoring in computer programming/computer science, but it was more of a skill and not something I was passionate about. I wanted to do something that I loved. I enrolled for esthetics in 2019 as a full-time student and worked part-time at a fitness gym at night. I absolutely LOVED everything I learned in the world of esthetics. Learning the science and background of skin, skin types, and Ingredients that work best for whatever skin condition that you wanted to improve, along with everything beauty! Makeup, waxing, tinting, and much more! Of course Covid happened in 2020, 4 months before I got my license, which was a bummer because everything was shut down. Especially work for estheticians, since we do have to be up close and personal with performing facials and waxing services. The year 2020 was the time I decided that I wanted to start my own business “ Naturally Illuminated Skin “. I did start by buying the equipment, and products, and starting my business page, but did not take my business too seriously until 2021 after the birth of my daughter. She gave me that push that I needed because I now have someone else depending on me and looking up to me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was NOT a smooth road. I’ve always believed that whenever you are walking in your destiny or walking towards your purpose in life, obstacles and distractions will be thrown in your way to throw you off track or to push you back a few steps. Those are the times when you can become overwhelmed or feel like giving up. Having faith, prayer, and strength is what helped me through the struggles and just being optimistic and not focusing on the bump or hole in the road.

My business Naturally Illuminated Skin is a business that focuses on skin health and beauty! I perform facials, waxing, brow services and teeth whitening services. What sets me apart from others is my personality! People tend to gravitate towards me when they meet me. I love for my clients to feel welcomed and to feel like they are at home. It’s good to have a few laughs during the service and not be uptight or serious the entire time. Another thing I do get a lot of compliments on is the fact I take my work very seriously, I’m very precise and can be very picky haha. I know there is no such thing as perfect, but I at least try to get close to it and make sure my clients are happy! My services cater not only to women but men as well. I also do have beard treatment services and more. I do offer discounts, who doesn’t like a discount right?
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I would have to say, I’ve always been a girly girl! I’m such an outgoing person, very easy to talk to. I love meeting and connecting with new people! I definitely cherish my friends and family! I feel like I’ve always had this “ influencer “ personality. I love to help people and give people tips while just being myself. I’m actually pretty funny as well haha! I find myself making people laugh without trying.
