Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlene A. Green.
Hi Charlene, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a native of Columbia, SC. I’ve always been incredibly driven. I am one of those curious people who discovered what I wanted to do professionally as a kid. Practicing law was my childhood dream. I wanted to use the law to help others and I feel incredibly blessed to continue to live that dream. I completed undergraduate degrees at the College of Charleston in Charleston, SC before returning to Columbia for law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law. After law school, I relocated to Atlanta, GA and began working as a Public Defender in Fulton County, GA. I spent roughly six years working as a public defender before entering private practice. As fate would have it, I returned to Charleston, SC, got married, and started a family. Ultimately, I opened my practice after deciding that I wanted the flexibility to prioritize family and greater control over how I utilize my legal expertise to serve others. The vision for Dwell Legal, LLC is twofold: 1. To educate, assist and equip others to acquire, transfer and preserve real estate; and 2. To empower families to intentionally plan their legacy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to my current happy place has been anything but smooth. New levels are often accompanied by new obstacles. I believe grit and persistence are refined through challenges. When I left SC in my mid-20s. It was my first time living outside of the state. When I moved I did not have a formal job offer! I was crystal clear on what I wanted and certain of how hard I was willing to work. I chose to bet on myself. That choice proved to be a wise one. After several years in Atlanta, I grew restless and moved to Baltimore, MD to work in the city as a Public Defender. I was there less than one year when I decided that the city was not right for me and I missed being close to family and friends. I learned an important lesson about the power of giving myself permission to change my mind. After my former employer graciously agreed to rehire me, I returned to Atlanta. Entrepreneurship is one of the greatest challenges I have ever faced. It is a constant exercise in managing my mindset and giving myself permission to dream in spite of uncertainty and unfavorable circumstances. I am an eternal student of life. I’ll never stop seeking to learn and I truly believe there is always a greater ahead. A positive mindset and forward movement will outlast any struggle.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
By far: The only limits that exist are the ones in your mind. Make time to read or listen to something you find uplifting as often as possible. I aim to pray and meditate daily. It’s also important to keep record your wins, no matter how small, (a journal can be an easy tool to keep track). I find that my mindset is best when I am inspecting, weeding, nourishing and nurturing my thoughts daily. I have not perfected this practice but I am getting better at it everyday.
