Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Holder.
Hi Thomas, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2019, I became interested in woodworking and started watching YouTube videos to teach myself. It quickly became a passion of mine.
I started posting pictures and videos on Instagram as a way to show my progress as a maker, and my number of followers quickly grew. At that time, all of our orders were from friends and family.
As the profile grew, we began to receive more custom orders from people outside our immediate circle.
While growing the woodworking business by making custom pieces, we are continuing to post on Instagram and have landed several brand sponsorships and ambassadorships.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I wouldn’t say the road has been bumpy or hard, but we have definitely had some challenges.
With both of us working full-time jobs, being parents, and still working out of our garage instead of a full workshop, our growth has been slower than I originally hoped.

After realizing my passion for woodworking, I decided I wanted to make it more than just a hobby. My wife, Lauren, and I are foster parents.
We realized that as foster parents, we can only impact the lives of a few children by welcoming them into our home, but there are over 400,000 children in the US in foster care in need of more support. Through prayer, we were led to start Fostered Woodworks and to donate 10% of all sales to foster care organizations.
Our hope is that God will use us directly to change the life of every child that comes into our home while also using this business to impact the lives of other children in care. We specialize in custom woodworking pieces.
We handmake furniture, charcuterie boards, cutting boards, shelving, and decorative pieces.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite memories is when I used to climb out of my toddler bed, crawl through my parent’s room, and peek up to make sure I didn’t wake them up, then go get in my grandma’s bed.
At the time, my dad was waking up early to leave for work. He would always come in as I was pretending to sleep and make me get back in my own bed.
