Daily Inspiration: Meet Whitney Pendell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Pendell.

Hi Whitney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So,  before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how  you got to where you are today?
I started Come Home For Comfort in 2013 when I saw the need for a community  that encouraged women in all walks of life to thrive at home. There seemed to be  a misconception that you were only a homemaker if you stayed home all day. I  believe that all women have the calling to be homemakers, no matter how many  hours a day they spend inside the walls of their home.

Twice a week, I come to you with posts about the things that make our homes a  place of comfort: organization, frugal living, home decor, and the peace that  comes from Jesus.

I’m very passionate about homemaking because I believe that home is where  everything begins. It’s where our day starts and it’s where our day ends.

Everything that we need to be successful during the day can be found at home: a  good night’s sleep, clean clothes, good food, and reminders that we are loved by  our family and by God. When our homes provide all of those things, life goes a  lot better.

When there’s chaos, disorganization, confusion, and dissension at home, the day  isn’t going to be as great. We can’t control what happens to us or our family once  we leave home, but we can do our very best to make sure our time at home is  pleasant and full of the things we need.

Small choices like doing a load of towels every Saturday morning, planning a  weekly supper menu, and implementing cleaning routines go a long way toward  a peaceful home. On my blog, Come Home for Comfort, I share how I do these  things and give tips to help you implement them in your home.

One of the things I love most about blogging is the connection I’m able to make  with other women who care about their homes just as much as I do. Because I’ve  always worked a job outside of my home, my daily schedules and methods  resonate with other women who are also trying to fit their homemaking around a  work schedule.

We currently do not have children in our home, which allows me to encourage  women on both sides of child-rearing (those who do not have children and those  who are empty nesters) with the value of cultivating a home even though there  are no children living there.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a  relatively smooth road?
I have found women to be so receptive to my message of homemaking. I believe  women are encouraged to know that they can value their role as a homemaker  while carrying out other roles such as mom and employee.

The challenge in blogging is that nothing stays the same! On the technical side of  blogging, there’s always more to it than writing a nice post and adding a few  photos. The changing nature of social media, especially the shift toward video  and app-based content, keeps all content creators on their toes.

My husband is very supportive of my desire to not only share my love for  homemaking but to share our home with others. He is a very willing “Instagram  Husband” and knows not to take a bite until all plates have been photographed – in case I’m shooting a new recipe for the blog!

I’m so thankful for the readers who have stuck with me through the years, and  I’m always so happy to connect with new readers who find me for the first time.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who  might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a blogger/content creator at ComeHomeForComfort.com, and I’m also the  Office Administrator for a local nonprofit in Greenville, SC.

I have a reputation as a blogger who shares “real-life” homemaking that is  attainable for the middle class. The links I share and the things I recommend are  truly affordable for me and as a result, affordable for my followers.

I teach the value of contentment and doing the best with what you have. Many  women find hope for their own homes when they see the cozy, peaceful home  I’ve created in our little ranch house.
