Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Osborne.
Hi Christian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, I started blogging a few years back because I’m a sharer. I always joke that my Facebook friends were tired of long-winded captions—so that gave me the push to start a blog, a platform where people signed up to read my long-winded stories. (Now, my blog is currently being revamped and unfortunately has only a handful of current articles, but I’m enthusiastic for my blog’s big return.) At first, my blog started off about random revelations in life, marriage, motherhood, college, but then somehow, I got dubbed a mommy blogger and my content shifted to be more of that. I wasn’t happy being confined to that genre of blogging. So that content lasted for a short time. Then, influencing became the focus, growing my Instagram following and scoring as many paid collaborations became my main priority. That was fun; creating content and getting paid for it was dope! Though my following on Instagram didn’t reach the Kardashian level lol, my following was loyal and the opportunities presented to me were well worth it. The coolest collaboration was one with my hometown, where my family and I got to be on a billboard. Because how many people do you know with a whole billboard? I realized creating a social media presence cultivated other opportunities for me, especially in the field of communication, my college major. I’m a writer, a journalist, and photographer. Having a platform that people sought to keep up with allowed me to share stories and ideas—even if they centered around my community or family, I felt needed to be told. Having that social media notoriety and presence made me, The Christian Way more than just stilled frames on a social media timeline, it made me a brand—a big voice. While I still don’t know what that means just yet, I’m really grateful for this ride, thus far. My content continues to change. More recently, I’m writing and sharing more about self-discovery and faithful healing. I’ve also started a photography business—it’s been a passion for long time. It’s been a fun change of content and growth.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think whenever a creative puts their work out in the world for others to critique, it’s difficult. Your artistry is like your child, innocent, and vulnerable to strangers unknown. Social media likes don’t lessen the anxiety when sharing my art either. Too many times have I been saddened by lack of support or engagement, especially from people that know me in real life. Allowing negative thoughts that I’m not good enough or that my content isn’t good enough has been the biggest struggle to combat. Yet, here I am, still creating and still overcoming!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a writer and photographer. I’ve been told that my words and images move people and that’s all I want. I’m undeniably honest and very unapologetically vulnerable on all my platforms. I want my following to feel like we’re growing, learning, and overflowing together. That alone sets me apart from other creatives. I offer no gimmicks, games, or perfectly curated posts, just an open, honest, and safe place for people to just—be.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Always ask questions, to anyone—everyone. Nothing beats a try. Learn from those you aspire to be like and lean towards people that share your morals and goals. Above all else, remain rooted in who you are and only feast on advice that makes your soul feel easy.
