Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Wright.
Hi Allison, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I graduated from Georgia State University in 2018 with a BFA focusing in Interior Design. Upon graduation, I lived and traveled throughout Europe which greatly influenced my decision to pursue design. After returning back to Georgia, I started working as an intern with Metal + Petal. I was offered the position of Jade’s (CCO of Metal + Petal) design assistant. For a little over a year, I learned the systems and business of interior design in the workplace and was promoted to Junior Residential Designer. I have since relocated to Charleston to lead our new studio that we opened in November 2021.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a winding road, which I am grateful for. There have definitely been struggles along the way. I’ve dipped my toes in a few different sectors of art and design before realizing Interior Design is where I wanted to be.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Metal + Petal is a full-service interior design firm. We work in both residential and commercial spaces. Our team is filled with talented creatives who tend to push the boundaries. We like the mixing of styles and making a statement. Personally, I am focused on the Residential side. I enjoy getting to know the client, their wants and needs for their home, and then translating that into a physical space.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as feeling fulfilled- whatever that means to you. For me, I knew that I would have to feel creatively fulfilled within my career in order to obtain “success.” I feel fulfillment knowing that our clients trust me and the rest of the team to reimagine their spaces. Seeing a client’s face when we they walk into their home after an install also feels like a huge success!
