Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Kienzle.
Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been “talking to the camera” for the last 20 years. In the 80s I was the dorky little kid recording fake radio shows in my bedroom and producing TV shows using my karaoke machine… so it was only natural I would major in Broadcast Journalism!
I worked my way up the ranks through local television news, starting as an intern, then a videographer, then a producer, then a TV reporter, and TV meteorologist, and now I’m a TV host. I host a local lifestyle show called “Lowcountry Live” on the ABC affiliate in Charleston, SC.
However, we all had a “pandemic pivot” and mine has brought me the biggest joy in my long career. When the world shut down and we were all forced to connect only through video, I realized that it was a real struggle for so many people. They felt awkward, looked uncomfortable, and didn’t know what to say.
So, I took what was so innate to me, and started helping entrepreneurs. I give them the confidence to go on camera, and most importantly use video as a tool to grow their business.
My signature course “Let’s Get Reel” has taught more than 100 business owners how to use short-form videos to engage, connect and grow their accounts.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Contrary to popular belief, television news is not glamorous. I think I’m still recovering from when I had to wake up at 2 am for the early morning show.
It’s a business that demands crazy hours, multiple moves, and a thick skin. Criticism is a big part of the game.
However, my career has allowed me to meet amazing people, and cover incredible stories, and my ability to speak has led me down unexpected career paths. A few years ago, I went to auction school and I’m now a benefit auctioneer! I help non-profits raise thousands of dollars at charity galas.
Now as I grow my new video coaching business, I’ve discovered new challenges – how to balance everything, how to scale and how to serve my clients so they see the best results. I don’t think struggles ever end, it’s how we grow… and I’m always up for a challenge!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m on-air every Monday – Friday from 10-11 am. “TV Erin” is polished and professional and most likely in an Ann Taylor shift dress. Every year, we interview 2,000 local businesses, non-profits, event planners, etc. on our show.
When I’m not on TV, I’m in Mom jeans and Nike high tops hanging out on Instagram. You can find me at @erinkienzle. I’d love to help you! This is where I give tips and tricks on how to be confident on camera, and how to get better results through video.
I do team training, and 1:1 coaching and if you want to focus on Instagram reels, you need to join my community inside “Let’s Get Real.” I share my proven Scroll Stopping system that will help you stand out, build authority and sell your product.
I’m a really bad dancer, so I promise you don’t have to dance on reels, and I really specialize in helping people find their comfort level and crafting their message.
When I’m not on Instagram, you’ll find me in my minivan as I cart around our 4 daughters to basketball, tennis, cheer, volleyball, piano, and dance.
And occasionally on the weekends, you’ll find me in a gown running an auction for a local non-profit. I get asked all the time, “how do you do so much?”
Coffee and a good planner.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I tell my kids all the time, “You’re so lucky to live here.” I’m an Ohio girl originally but have called Charleston home for a long time. I love the beauty, the weather and most importantly the people!
