Check Out Maya Christian’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Christian.

Hi Maya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started to make online content when the world was put on hold. Being stuck in the house during the pandemic left my mind feeling bored and empty. I used social media to fill the void and bring laughter to the world during this dark time. I started making videos just for fun however it soon turned into something bigger. It took me a couple of months to start growing on the social media platform TikTok but it’s been about three years since I started making videos and I finally reached my goal of a million followers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road. Social media comes with a lot of hurdles such as the platform’s algorithm, the audience, and your own mind. You’re constantly questioning yourself wondering why you aren’t getting the same number of views as somebody else or why did one video do so good but the other didn’t. Also trying to fit into a certain niche when you don’t wanna be forced into a particular box can definitely damper your will to continue to post content. I still have struggled every day with social media trying to figure out what to post making sure my videos don’t offend anybody and trying to stay consistent and keep the momentum of my page going. However, the longer I’ve been doing this the more confident I get in my own content, my own choices, and knowing that my audience has my back.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My process of making content is simple I come up with some sort of idea, I script the idea out (character by character) and then I film it. After filming it goes through an hour to the two-hour editing process, I rewatch the video probably 1 million times and then I post it. I’m most known for anime-themed comedic content however I’ve been branching out to other avenues so I’m not only known for one thing. I believe the thing that sets me apart from others is my originality, I make my own original content which is something you don’t see that much these days and it makes me proud of my own abilities to be different from the majority. To know that I can come up with my own original funny ideas and people actually love them and want to watch more makes me feel like I am doing something right.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always been kind of a diverse kid I love to play outside with the boys but I also love to have tea parties inside with the girls. I’ve always been very goofy and silly and just always wanted to have fun. I could be shy at times when I was around new people but the moment, I got comfortable my personality just busted out. As a kid I was super into cartoons and TV I love to watch TV all day if I could and play video games and that definitely shows in my content today. I believe I’m still a kid at heart and that’s why my videos make people laugh so much because I can still tap into my inner child.
