Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Lindholm.
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story isn’t like many others. Never in a million years did I think I would be a photographer, nonetheless a wedding photographer. I didn’t grow up falling in love with photography, or really even care to learn that much about it.
In 2020 my husband and I planned on going on six vacations, so in 2019 I purchased a camera so we could document our travels. Our goal was to capture everything while we traveled so that one day we could pull out an album and show our future children all the wonderful adventures we went on, but more importantly, create our legacy for those that we will leave behind someday.
When the pandemic started, we canceled all of our plans, I decided to learn how to use this camera I purchased. I figured, one day the world will open again and when that happens, we’ll see the world together and make the most amazing images. I couldn’t have been more wrong. When I started my (at the time) hobby, I realized I had this need for a creative release that I had never seen before in me. Photography was exactly what I needed and after that, I never looked back.
In 2020 I created a name for myself and traveled the country meeting some of the most amazing people who I can now call friends. I’m honored to be included in my client’s wedding days and to help them create the start of their legacy. I don’t take my job lightly and I am incredibly blessed that some of my clients have become some of my closest friends.
Two years later, I still am so blessed to be able to serve my clients and am still as excited as ever when I get to be the one to capture couples’ biggest days!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The last few years have had their ups and downs. I’ve had booked solid months in a row and dry spells where I don’t get an inquiry for weeks. It’s during those slow weeks that I remind myself of my ‘why’ behind what I do that way I can be motivated to continue to push myself.
The biggest struggle in comparison. Comparing yourself to others is truly the theft of joy. While there is always someone that can be better at what we do, I have to remind myself that my clients come to me for a reason. I believe that reason is that I cultivate and value the relationships I build with my clients. It’s not something I take lightly.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a wedding photographer! I have the best job because I get to help my couples create their legacy through their wedding photographs.
When my clients first inquire and I ask them what drew them to me, it’s typically a combination of the light and intimate images I create or that they thought we would vibe really well together.
The thing that sets me apart is something I am particularly proud of. If there’s one thing I have to do with every client, is learn about them and build a genuine relationship. I want to know the good, bad and ugly. I love to follow the journey after my couple’s wedding days and cheer them along and celebrate the big milestones!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
If we are talking business life: I’m a huge sap, and the most hopeless romantic. So, when I am asked to photograph weddings, I get a bit emotional because it is one of the few tangible things from your wedding you get to keep. I am extremely honored to play my part.
If we’re talking personal life: My husband and our fur babies! Whenever I am having a low mental energy day, he can always cheer me up. He is the one that pushes me to be the very best I can be and the reason I am here today.
I am forever lucky to call him my husband!
