Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Bigwarfe.
Hi Alexa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey to get here was not your typical “I want to write a book!” story. When I lost my daughter, Kathryn, just a few short days after she was born, I needed a way to process my grief. Writing her story was the answer. It didn’t stop my pain, but it gave it a place to go…and it turned into something that could help others when I published that first book.
That journey started 10 years ago, and since then, I’ve been on a mission to help people grow, heal, transform and thrive through publishing their stories. But the biggest part of this is providing the knowledge base so that as authors go down the road to publishing, they have the information you need to make smart decisions.
My main mission is to produce and publish high quality books that share the stories of inspiration, transformation, encouragement, and self-help with the world. I am committed to helping female authors navigate the often confusing and overwhelming world of writing, publishing, and selling a book through a variety of services that include coaching, collaborative writing, preparation for publication, and publication. I offer a wide range of services and price points through Write.Publish.Sell to make that possible for anyone who is a good match with me.
Along the way, I started the Women in Publishing Summit, the first and the biggest virtual event for women in the publishing industry. Our motto is “Empower. Encourage. Support.” That’s exactly what we aim to do for the thousands of women who’ve joined us over the years.
Every turn along the way has been because I believe that all of us have a story that’s worth telling and that there should be as few obstacles as possible to sharing it with the world.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In all honesty, it has been an educational ride that I am grateful for because it helped me curate my business and focus on what I’m good at. We have our best success when we stay in our own lanes. I’ve learned to do what you do best and outsource the rest. The worst part is the stress of all that can go wrong throughout the process. It’s awful when you realize a mistake has happened and it’s too late in the process to fix it. You discover that you don’t know what you don’t know, and it’s not a great feeling.
I stopped wasting valuable time doing things not so well, and trust me when I say it’s easy to waste a lot of TIME and MONEY on efforts that get you nowhere.
Another difficult part is dealing with expectations and disappointment. There are many excellent books that never go viral that take years to do what we wanted them to do. It’s hard and sad when you have a book that you believe to be incredible, but the timing is off, or there’s another reason that hampers the success you worked toward.
It can be stressful as a small publisher to manage all of the many moving parts, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. I love working with authors and getting their messages out into the world. It definitely makes all the challenges worthwhile.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own the company Write|Publish|Sell, where I help authors with everything from writing to publishing to marketing and promotion. There are a lot of areas of expertise required in publishing, from graphic design to editing, understanding Amazon metadata, and on into marketing and promotion. It takes a lot of time to develop a real understanding of the industry; if you don’t have time or aren’t interested, this is something we specialize in that can be a big help to authors.
So, most of our programs revolve around saving you from that hardship! And helping you get to where you want to be as an author. It’s why I founded Write|Publish|Sell.

Because I believe that your story matters, and we believe the world needs to hear it.
I’ve put together a team that shares my values and brings expertise in working with an editor, choosing the right email CRM, formatting your book, finding the right keywords, building relationships with influencers, making TikTok viral videos, and everything else that goes into creating a great book that sells.
Hiring an expert can help your shortcut the process and still keep control.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
The best moments are always the feeling of publishing a book. There is no better feeling than the first time an author holds their book in their hands and finally realizes what, for many, is a lifelong dream of publishing their book. I love being a part of that!
Also, the impact of books. To be able to change someone’s life with your words – it’s an incredible feeling. And many books do that. Regardless of genre, we all have those books that stick with us for life or create a moment where our lives pivoted.
