Life & Work with Alana Sommers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alana Sommers.

Hi Alana, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was little, I always wanted to be an author when I grew up, however, I completed my bachelor’s degree at Kent State University majoring in sociology instead. It wasn’t till two years ago that I decided to try and see if I could write a book, and surprisingly I did, and I had so much fun creating the story If You Don’t Tell.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating the story was the easy part for me. Figuring out what to do with it, editing, and sending off query letters to literary agents was the not so easy part.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wrote the suspense novel If You Don’t Tell. It’s my debut novel full of complex and intriguing turns while shifting back and forth from past to present-day to reveal the truth about each interlaced narrative between three friends. My writing has been said to be lively, visually rich, and fluid from the very first page with subtle layered suspense throughout.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My dearest lifelong friend since childhood, Lisa Hyman Iscrupe, has been very supportive and encouraging throughout the whole process.
